I often wonder, when analysts "predict" (you know, in Biblical times they used to stone false prophets to death. Not saying I like the practice, but at times like these...) a team's record, do they balance all the records they predict so they are consistent. I mean, for every win a team gets, a different team has to lose right? Do they go in and make sure that there aren't too many wins, or too many losses overall for the NFL in their fantasy of what will actually happen than makes sense for a 16 game schedule with 32 teams? Or do they just pick a number they like for each team, even if, when you add them up, it leads to an impossible set of wins and losses?

I won't lose any sleep over the answer, but I thought I would put it out there.

Only caught about 10min of it. Greenie was talking about how difficult it would be for the Jets to start out 0-3.
He mentioned that they would likely lose to the Pats and Chargers and a 1-2 start would not be insurmountable.
An opening day loss to the Phins would be devastating. Then he says he doesn't believe they will lose to the Phins. He doesn't think Pennington's knowledge of the Jets playbook will be significant factor.

I personally don't think the talent level between the 2 teams is that big. Plus I think the Phins will have a better running game and D-line.
I also think the Phins will be better prepared for the stifling heat and humidity.
I think the intangibles clearly favor the Fins. There is much more pressure on the Jets to win this yr.
Favre is also not known as a cerebral QB and will likely make a few poor decisions which he is known for.
I think the Fins win this one.

Here's a quick synopsis of what they said

Greenberg: "I'm a closet homosexual, who let's my New York Jet bias get in the way of everything else."

Golic: "DUUUH, me hate Don Shula! Golic still mad that Don Shula cut him! Golic say bad record for Dolphins every year! Me like Notre Dame!

I'd imagine they go through each team's schedule and predict a win or loss for each game and come out with a record. As long as you keep it consistent, you don't have put too much effort into it.

I don't care to listen to everyone's predictions. Might as well not even play the games. I hope the Phins come through with solid D and decent qb play to shut everyone up. I'm still saying 10-6.

I saw it and it wasn't very interesting or informative. They asked if Pennington will be one of many QBs to play under center this year. Greenie said he thinks he will be one of two and Henne will play when we are out of it later in the year. They asked if Ricky would be a significant contributor and Greenie thought he would and said some positivie things about Ricky. They asked if the defense will be better now without Jason Taylor. The question was horrible and Greenie hinted that they would have a better defense but of course the defense won't be better with Taylor not there. The fifth question is always what is the record but I don't remember the other question right now. The other question may have had to do with Ronnie Brown coming back from injury.

That sounds about right. I hate that show.

Pennington gives us at least 4-5 wins. Ricky gives us at least 3-4. You do the math.

I never listen to them, I don't find anything they say to be logical. Sorry I just don't. Other sports radio/sports analysis people have a lot more interesting things to say.

even with everybody hating on the show (which I personally like), Greeny did say he believed that Parcells would turn the ship around, and that Pennington was a good pick up to mentor Henne, but also said that it's too much to ask for a team to go from 1-15 to the playoffs so he said he thought 5-11 was pretty realistic.

Buster Olney said he thought 3-13 because this would be a transition year for the Fins as they continue to build the bottom of our roster and then bring in more top talent in the draft.

So there really was no bitterness or biased they were just trying to be fair.

Common Sense

This is one of the first common sense statements I have heard on here. Who really cares what any member of the sports media says about anyone. Some have already crowned the Patriots Super Bowl champs this year. I guess we should just give them the rings now then.
