There were guys starting that ideally they probably wouldn't want to give a roster spot to...had no choice.
CKPARROT,
I'm a bit of a dinosaur, and don't mjuch understand this twitter stuff. In days gone by, we used to call some a pathetic twit. I believe things have changed.
In any case, I always thoght that the most important thing is what someonne had to say, NOT how he said it.
I'm not sure what the argument is here but don't forget the Ohio State kid Kirk Barton that was here for like 4 weeks...and Al Johnson, who was not retained this year.
Yea I was not even including those scrubs we picked up although I had some hope for both.

I just don't see how these predictions can be made when pads haven't even been put on yet. Basically, everyone that isn't a DB, a receiver, a quarterback, or a runningback, hasn't shown ANYTHING yet. How is Wake supposed to show how physical he is when there's no pads..?

"A Rolando McLain is a nice addition but it's merely checking off a need box, a tidy upgrade. No one in the league would be shaking if Miami suddenly has Rolando McLain. On the other hand, freak is a rarely summoned word and no one has ever questioned the legitimacy of attaching that label to Everson Griffen."

I totally agree with you.........Guys just need something to write about.
I'm not saying all guys but so many hope a guy fails when coming from the CFL, that they'll not even think logically of what they're writing.
My biggest thing about Wake is - he hasnt had pads on yet....this guy is a pass rusher, a former D lineman, about to be an outside LB in a 3-4...how can he possibly showcase anything without pads on? if hes fast then good that shows something...but being physical has to be a huge part of his sell....so we wont know until late august if hes for real....as far as if he turns out not to be....all well...we got the first crack at him we didnt like him so whatever...no one should be garunteed anything.
i have faith he'll become that "monster" in pads though and make the team..

Did Armando write an article and sign it 'Omar Kelly'??
What a ridiculous statement. With the money we threw at Wake, no way in hell he doesn't make the roster.
Everyone is expecting too much from Wake. If he is the impact player everyone expects some one would have outbid us. He signed a very small contract in terms of the NFL. A 4 year 4.9 million dollar contract isn't that much money! You guys should happy if he is just a role player for us because he is getting role player type money!

Well, not EVERYONE is expecting too much from him. I'm just hoping he'll be a David Bowens circa 2001-2002. Statistically, Bowens was not an impressive player back then. But on the football field, he was an excellent special teams player because of his rare combo of speed, size and strength, and he actually functioned pretty well as a pass rush rotator. When he got the chance to start opposite Jason Taylor in 2004, he got 7.0 sacks which isn't terrible, and he's been a contributor ever since. Back in 2005 and 2006, he was a great rotator on Nick Saban's pass rush lines. He's been ok with the Jets for what they've asked him to do.
If Cameron Wake turns out to be nothing more than a David Bowens, then we got a steal. There's no doubt about it.
