The man has brought a great point only to be flamed by the haters. Does one who questions the mental capacity think he is of higher standards than the rest of the posters? I assume that the issue here is not of his mere statement but the lack of arguements that have been brought by the rest of the posters, something that I expect as I enter an ordinary discussion in this forum.

Will these players ever be retired? Probably not anytime soon within these turmulous times. This organization does not retire Numbers easily, as the author stated.

Yeah they cannot just retire every great players jersey number...

But both ZT & JT have a very good chance of being the last to wear that number for the Dolphins.

They both have been ELITE players for the DOLPHINS for YEARS. They both are the best that Miami has every fielded at their positions. They both could get into the Hall Of Fame.

ZT & JT do not have rings...good thing it is not required to get in...but then again they both may still yet get one..just not here in Miami.

I don't see Thomas' number being retired either. I'm sorry, but not many players get their numbers retired and while Zach Thomas was a very good player for Miami, I just don't see it happening. I see him being placed in the ring of honor, however. The only player I see with a remote chance of whose number could be retired is Jason Taylor.

I personally don't see his Number being retired, I do know it will go in the ring of honor.

The questions on the thread come due to the fact that this is like the 5th thread that is made just to inflame the members. Its okay to have different opinions, but no need to be negative with every thread we make.

Meanwhile I think Zach is the best linebacker to ever wear aqua and orange and JT one of the best d-linemen to ever play...
you might be a lil young to remember how good richmond webb really was. started 11 seasons for us and and during that span he made 7 pro bowls in a row. i dunno about mcduffie now, but richmond webb was ballin!

Numbers being retired should be reserved for a very select few, it starts getting ridiculous when you retire every number who had a long productive career with the team.

Csonka is a legend, Marino is a legend. Eventually you'll have to start giving out 3 digit numbers if they are handed out too easily.

Personally, I think its more interesting seeing future young prospects get the numbers of legends of the past and try to live up to that number.

Just as Marino gets downgraded by outside critics for never winning a Superbowl when the QB's of all time get rated, Zach and JT suffer from never being on great Dolphin teams when you discuss retired numbers and Dolphin legends.

Langer and Dwight Stephenson are Hall of Famers.Dwight was the greatest center of all time.Their numbers are not retired. Was Zach
the greatest MB of all time?NO!Was JT the greatest DE of all time?
NO! So,saying their numbers should be retired is really funny.
I've been a fan since 1970,the Zach and JT era of Dolphin football
has been the lowest in Dolphin history. Was it their fault? No,but it still was some of the worst seasons in Miami history.

Zach was a great MLB for us.

That said , he just isn't in Marino's class. Thats why Marino's number was retired , that level of play is rare.

Exactly. I think some fans get it in their heads that if we say no to this that means we don't appreciate or acknowldge how good they were. They were very god for our team.

They just weren't and aren't in the same league as Marino was with their legacy.

When it's all said and done, even without the rings, Marino will always be rememberred and argued as the best of all time. Griese will always be linked with the perfect season

What really can we say that Taylor and Thomas can be rememberred for other then being great with the Dolphins? That is why I mentioned Mcduffie and Webb. IMO Webb meant more to this team then Thomas or Taylor ever will. McDuffie was just MR reliable. They were both great for this franchise.

Thomas and Taylor will never be remembered for anything "special" that is just the way it is.

Neither will be talked about as the best of all time either IMO.

This is why neither will get their # retired. They definitely deserve a ROH.

Some fans just have an amazing amount of loyalty and passion for Thomas and Taylor. It's not a bad thing really, it just doesn't necissarily keep things in perspective with situations like this.

Zach may not get his number retired but I think he has a good solid chance to make the HOF. He is one of the top 2 or 3 LB's of his generation. If guys like Lynn Swan get in then he has a great chance.

Also I would surely retire Zach's number over Jason Taylor. I think he is by far a better LB than Taylor is at his position. I'm not sure its even close.

Does anyone else find it strange that the Dallas Cowboys don't have any numbers retired?
