I love Ronnie, but it isn't his talent fans are debating... it's the fact that he hasn't been able to stay healthy for a complete season since we drafted him.
When he is healthy, he is undoubtedly our biggest producer and work horse on offense, but whether or not he runs into the unfortunate luck of injury is the concern for most people. Sharing the load with another work horse in Ricky should help him become successful this season.

I tell you what, this could finally be the year thought, with the way Ricky is running, Ricky will sure help Ronnie stay fresh. I think they will both end up wiht similar stats but RW should have the edge. Chubbs

Sorry, but for the #2 pick in the draft i'm not doing any back flips over Ronnie Browns production so far. I'll wait to see if he can produce for a full season before i claim Ronnie Brown a beast, or great, like some on this site. Lets hope he stays healthy because we will need Ronnie and Ricky to be successful.

A lot of people feel you have to hate one player at the same position to make it a point that you like the other one better, I have no idea why, and it's really silly but that's the mentality of some of these 'fans.' -see the Beck haters(Henne fans.)

Ronnie averaged 5.1 yards per carry last year with an Oline that was .... well, very average. Imagine what he can do with Vernon Carey, Samson Satele AND #1 overall pick Jake Long. If our 2 guards can play up to the same level as the other three Olinemen, you might really see Ronnie explode on the NFL scene this year. He might really blow people's minds and become more of a household name in the league.
Not just running the ball but catching the ball too. He was #1 in the NFL in all purpose yards just before his injury. People forget how good Ronnie really was last year. I just hope that Sparano is going to give Ronnie enough carries to prove he's still as good as he was last year. Ricky is probably still pretty good, but you gotta admit, it's been a LONG time since he's been on the field in the middle of the action taking lots of wicked hits. He was really good in 2002, no doubt about it. He got a LOT of carries though. The coaches OVERWORKED him actually. I don't think Ricky wants to get as much load as he got back then. We shall see how our running game turns out this year. I bet we are in the top 5 or 6 in rushing maybe. I just want Ronnie and Ricky both to make it through the season without major injuries. That's not so easy these days in the NFL. With these 270 lb. linebackers and 300 lb. Dlinemen with decent speed and quickness, they can pack a helluva wallop when they tackle you. I bet our "new" 275 lb. OLB Matt Roth is going to put the hurt on some tight ends and running backs this year. Oh, man it might be brutal. I hear Roth is one strong dude if he gets his hands on you. He was good at wrestling I hear. He knows some karate too so he knows about leverage and maximizing your force, etc. |

Haters will hate. Mighty fine job by Ronnie last night, I think he's a great player w/ some bad luck injuries. He's tough, modest, nice, likeable, and an all around good guy. Good on ya Ronnie, stay healthy.
2 good running backs is no problem, fun stuff ahead. Let's go Miami Dolphins!!! |

I'm a big Ronnie fan but he has a long way to go to get back to the form he showed last year. May not be until next year until he gets his full burst back. Anyone saying to trade him is short sided, Ricky has been great so far but is 31 and unreliable in the past few years injury wise (even if his head is screwed on straight for once).

Let's see if we can break this down: -at one point (2002 and 2003) Ricky Williams was arguably the best back in football, or at least in the conversation -since then, he has flashed that ability at time, but has been hampered by injury and drug issues (both in the NFL and CFL) -Ronnie Brown has averaged over 4 yards per carry in his career and is one of the best receiving RBs in all of football. -In 2007, Brown was on pace for an All Pro campaign, but was sidelined by a knee injury -Ronnie's main knock is that he can't stay healthy, playing 15, 13, and 7 games respectively in his first 3 NFL seasons. -In the 2008 preseason, both backs have looked solid, with Williams having the slight edge in big runs and YPC, but also failing to score in a goal line situation against the Chiefs I'd say that the "realist" would look at these facts and say that the argument about whether Brown or Williams is better RIGHT NOW (not in 2002) and say that it's a toss up. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and both have flashed All Pro ability. Hope this helps...

Where is the word hate in my statement? This whole calling people 'haters' is lame. I never said ronnie wasn't a decent back... IMO I believe Ricky is a better running back. Always was. in college and the pros. we have 2 very good back. Sorry.. the whole 'What up with the hate' thing angers me. I am a DOLPHIN fan.. Far over any player. When Ronnie wins the rushing title.. I'll say he's better.. but so far this year, Ricky is starting.

Thank you... your 'realist' point of view helps me make my point. Once again you are only stating your opinion. as I have stated mine. You stats give little benefit to Brown of being considered clearly a better back than Ricky. It boils down to whether one person likes Ricky or of they prefer Ronnie.. Not very complicated. ![]()
