i didn't know he was that old, i hate to say it, but with beck and now murphy, the only reason some of these guys dominate in college is because they are 4 years older than everyone else.... once they get on the even playing field that is the nfl they can't do jack. it would be bad relations to release a 4th rounder this early, he'll probably get the axe in about 9 months.

Yeah, Shawn Murphy was likely kept out because of his ankle injury. It happened during Thursday's morning practice.

Quote:
Guard Shawn Murphy tweaked his ankle in the morning practice and participated in the evening session. But toward the end of the evening practice, he needed to have his left ankle taped before returning.
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/fo...ry/642996.html

Likely a precautionary move by not playing him in yesterday's game.

He hasn't shined like many fans and coaches had hoped for and the emergence of Donald Thomas didn't help his case. HOWEVER, I don't think there is really any chance the Dolphins release him. They seem to have the starters set, but the Depth along the line is still greatly lacking. Even if he never cracks the starting lineup, as a 4th round pick, he can be a pretty good long term backup at the guard position. Murphy is going to make the 53 man roster.

imo murphys future depends on what comes available off other teams roster cuts. i think at worse we will try to get him on the p squad so he can develop.

this roster is gonna have imo around 10 guys come in off other teams waivers and take the bottom of our rosters jobs. no doubt

I hope we grab at least one receiver who can play.

Is Shawn Murphy this years John Beck? Over aged and underperforming?

no doubt. keep hagan, ginn, bess, and wilford cause of his huge bonus in free agency and go find two guys off cuts that can play.

i'd cut camarillo and kircus and try to get foster on the p squad.

they really should institute an age limit in college ball.....make 5 years the absolute maximum amount of time from the age of 18..

4 years and a redshirt year is plenty, as there is no reason that a 28 year old should be playing with guys that are 10 years younger than him (Weinke)

while a rarity certainly, there are tons of guys in their mid 20s that SHOULD NOT be competing with guys fresh out of high school

Id Take Devery Henderson even with his frustrating hands, and one of McDonald of Furrey if either is cut. I was thinking Sinorice Moss would be cut, but someone mentioned Manningham is still hurt, so probably not likely now. Hagan and Wilford offer good size, so Id like a small speedy guy, or small quick guy to compliment Ginn now. I think Henderson is expendable because I think Meachem is going to have a nice year for the Saints. That offense is going to be ridiculous.

There is absolutely no way that they give up on him before the season has even started, that is just plain ridiculous.

There are only two starting guard spots anyway, they have the luxury of being able to give him a year to bulk up and get stronger. He can provide depth next year. Our O-line is starting to look good, I can't wait for the real games to start. Ricky must be salivating thinking about his numbers this year and his next contract numbers...

there will be tons of talented guys that will be available

there are even rumors that Roydell Williams may not make the club in Tennessee

a bit nicked up, but he's been a starter with them

I think that they'll be watching the Cowboys very closely

if they make 6 or 7 claims, I fully expect about 4 to be cowboys, especially on defense

that is absolutley the dumbest thing i ever read on a message board.

age isnt what is hindering beck its bad coaching from last year and not talent around him.
some athletes do well as they get older and this team cant afford to turn down players just because of their age. although youdo have a good theory on college because of qb jason white but still i think it would be dumb not to take a player because he is one year older then the rest of our draft picks . especiallly if they go to rivials the pats and then burn us.

I don't think that is what he was talking about. I read a post here a couple of days ago where someone brought up a very interesting point which I haven't seen anywhere else.

Beck's COLLEGE numbers could be skewed because he was playing against much younger guys. Maybe he was never really as good as a lot of people think because of that age advantage in COLLEGE.

do you realize the difference between a guy in his mid to late 20s and a guy right out of high school?

its a different world......

hell, in terms of life experiences and maturity, I am nothing like I was 8 years ago
