Status on Henne/Merling contracts?I imagine rookies have to report fairly soon don't they? Like a couple days before veterans?
What's going on here? I'm not particularly enjoying these shenanigans, especially after Parcells said he wanted these guys signed by July 1st. ![]()

Rookies and Veterans both report on Friday July 25th. Henne's agent said yesterday that he expects to complete a deal in time for Chad to get to camp when it starts.
I haven't heard anything on Phillip Merling though. The fact that it took less then three hours for the Jason Taylor trade to go from idea to official, gives me hope that these deals have plenty of time to get done before Friday. Also, it was Ireland, not Parcells that said he wanted the deals done by July 1st. That hit a snag, not just for the Dolphins, but all the teams because of how contracts in the second round would deal with 2011 season if there is a lockout. That is why these deals are dragging right now. |

yeah they both will be in on time.. if not.. its there lose.. we have way to many unproven players that want there shot to establish them selves.. losing time because of a contract issues could lose you your chance to start this year..

I've heard this time and time again from media outlets, and every time I shake my head.
The drafting of both Phili[p Merling and Kendall Langford, in our 3-4, has NOTHING to do with Jason Taylor. Zero. Nada. JT is listed as a DE, but he is an OLB in this new scheme. I've heard it from Schefter, from Clayton from every national football writer in the country. Its asinine and drives me crazy. The drafting of those two gentlemen has more to do with Matt Roth, Vonnie Holliday and Rod Wright than it does JT. Fact is, we didnt draft anyone to replace the guy. Sheesh, do some research fellas. |

I'll be concerned Friday morning if there is no movement.

No we may not have drafted JTs rapalcement, but Merling will act the part. He is similar size and is athletic. Joey Porter will replace JT, Merling and Langford will be pass rushers in our defense

Merling and JT really are not all that similar.

They planned on playing without Taylor, he would have been a distraction. Henne better get into camp if he has any intentions of playing this year

I thought they would get it done today. Some time has passed now in the post Taylor era, they could get some attention going into camp. It would be extremely foolish to hold out.
