you gotta say pass on this one
we gotta see other guys at this position and see if they can play or if we will have to find another option
for example lehan, i am excited to see this guy play this year because i think he has a boatload of potential, however, if he doesn't pick up slack as a starter we will probably try to draft one next year (we do have a nice new addition of a second round pick)

You are correct sir. Webster lost his starting job after 3 games in, and then got it back. I honestly dont recall Madison making any plays of any significance in the playoffs. Guy used to be great, but hes average at best now IMO.

i personally would pass. you can't tell me that having a dominant front 7 doesn't help make up for a weak secondary. the giants front 7 was if not the best one of the best in the game. sam madison on our team with last years front 7 would be toast...even more so than travis daniels was.

my take

you'd rather have travis daniels than sam madison? keep in mind madison had 4 picks last year - more than anyone on this team. would daniels have had 4 picks on the giants last year? nope. he wouldn't have even made that roster.

but i do agree that neither one are the answer. no point in getting older when we are making a concerted effort to get younger. if we were a contender, i would say both were worth a look.

I would prefer not to have Travis Daniels or Sam Madison. lol. Daniels is terrible IMO. Corner is a huge need, and I suspect we will have to wait till 09 to see the talent upgraded there.

Surtain is making $8 million+... he is the highest paid player on the Chiefs.... the rumor was that they might cut him in June.

I'd pay $5 or 6 million for Surtain. Especially now that we're $20 million under the cap. We could really use a top-notch corner... even if it is only for a year or 2.
******
Now that it's almost August... perhaps Surtain will not be cut.
******
I wish we would have drafted a corner.... we'll see if a high-priced corner gets cut. We could certainly use an upgrade over Allen/Goodman/Lehan. These guys don't get many int's.
*******
ps. I think Ty Law is still available. He was cut by the chiefs making like $9 million this year, before he was cut.

good lord. surtain will either restructure or be a cap casualty. $11 mil lol that's crazy.

$5 mil is way steep for surtain also. how about vet minimum???

huh? You would pay him 5-6 million a year? he isnt a top notch corner anymore, he proved that with his average at best play in KC. id save our cap space for next offseason, make a run at a true #1 corner, or draft one.

The only playoff game Madison missed was the Wildcard game. He was a regular fixture in the Giants' defense from the Divisional Round right up through the Super Bowl. He also started 15 games in the regular season 2007, and went 10-5 in games that he started.

I dont deny he was a regualr fixture in their secondary, he was also regularly burned. Honestly, you could switch Madison with about any other starting or close to starter grade corner in this league, Giants still win. Their D Line is wh ythey won, and offense making key plays. Their secondary was admitted to be their achilles heel. Sam Madison got a ring because of the Giants, not the other way around IMO.
