We could keep Beck...I know Parcells liked Beck coming out of college. I wouldn't be surprised if we keep Beck as our #3. It's not like he's expensive, he's already had NFL starts. He just needs to regain his confidence. I can totally see the Trifecta holding onto Beck and allowing him to develop with NO pressure. Everyone is going to be talking about Pennington and Henne all season. Might be the perfect thing for Beck. Hone his skill. Pennington won't be here when his contract is up.. Beck might be right there in a season or 2 to compete.. to at least be a backup.. and he will be in our system for a few seasons.

the way Henne has been playin and if pennington can stay healthy for at least this season... beck can have a chance to better himself with no pressure as you said and become a solid quarterback |

I'd like to see them keep Beck as well , but just don't think they will.
As far as Chad Pennington if he plays well i don't think we should be in a rush to get him out of here. |

I don't either, although in my opinion Henne will be likely playing in 2 tears.

Hey you never know, maybe they keep him and next off-season he blows it up in training camp and preseason and we end up trading him to a team that needs a QB because A) injury (Jets Favre
) B) inconsistent play (Arizona?) etc. Then we can get another pick out of it. Probably not as high as a 2nd but at least some type of compensation. Just a thought. |

Just because the team traded McCown doesn't mean anything regarding Beck.
McCown became expendable because the organization determined that Henne has what it takes to be a backup. If Henne's progress took longer than it did, then I'd be willing to bet McCown, or another veteran would be here to backup Chad P. I thought they would be more conservative when it came to Henne, but apparently not.. Any way you cut it Beck has no future in Miami, keeping him on the roster a bit longer as a 3rd string backup gives us leverage if a team becomes really, and I mean really desperate for a QB..

I would like them to keep Beck, He can become a valuable back to Henne in the future. Look at Matt Cassel and Jim Sorgi those guys suck. you need a valuable backup that can learn your offense and push Henne.

Sorgi has proven to be a capable backup in this league, much more than Beck has proven. I agree Beck should be groomed to be our backup.

He could also be a waste of time and money, when instead we could be developing someone that can actually hold on to the football and make a few plays.. Backup QB's in this league that can not hold on to the football are disasters.. How soon we forget how Beck played last year, and how a backup like Lucas, who was turnover prone, destroyed an entire season in 4 games.

Your theory is possible but I don’t think it’s probable. Beck had every opportunity to make his claim this offseason and TC --- and at his age, with his history here, he’s better off with a new start somewhere else. I think Parcells and Ireland will do what’s best for the team, and in the process what’s best for Beck, and that means he gets traded sooner than later --- and we pick up a low-level prospect for 3rd string QB. If Beck hangs around --- I’m not sure that’s in anyone’s best interests at this point. |

Beck will stay a Dolphin as long as Bill Parcels thinks 1. he has value and 2. no one is offering anything equal to that value in trade. Bill Parcels is a lot smarter than me so I'm going to trust him on this.

Long term as far as starting Beck is basically done here unless he has very goodluck but long term as far as sticking in the NFL, no team offers a better chance for him to be in the NFL since he has worked with these coaches.
