They put a 2nd rd tender on him, which I thought was very generous.
In addition, welker had no desire to stay on this team.
He is replaceable. Nice slot receiver, with good hands, but with no big play ability. Undersized and afraid to take a hit. He catches the ball and falls down rather than taking a hit.

If Bill was running things then Welker would still be here.

How did any of this come to "" is Welker worth a a 1st rd tender ""

I guess you're saying by drafting Quinn instead of Ginn and then drafting Satele in Beck's spot and picking Henne over Merling with the #32 this year?

It would be interesting to see what he could have done with an NFL starting qb here .Catches are catches, he has always been a good td producer.

If he develops and continues his progression he could be Moss, Owens great- Chambers could NEVER be that good.
At this point yea Ginn has a higher ceiling but I firmly believe with the right team Chambers would have been a great player. He does have concentration issues but so does Owens. He has a great combo of speed, size and jumping ability. There are basically less than 5 receivers that can jump in the same area code as him. I see Ginn as a good receiver, never great but we in my opinion wasted Chambers talent by barely even providing backup like talent at Wr. Chambers basically had similar talent at Qb to what Moss had in his mediocre years in oakland.

I would take Chambers over Ginn right now for the same money.
