We probably wouldn't have a problem with it.

He's not saying he thinks they could lose, he's saying they will. Do you see the difference?

Maybe if we were big underdogs I could see saying we will lose, but c'mon. Some of his points are ridiculous to boot.
so whats wrong with the jetsies insider. at least there people will agree with you........ i understant you just want to jump on the finz winning bandwagon b4 everyone else does so you can say you were the first to do it

So your issue is about my usage of the word 'will' vs. 'could'? Are you kidding me?

I listed seven reasons why I think the Jets will lose this game. You've debated them, fair enough. I respect your opinions, we can debate the points, etc. etc. I happen to think some of the responses you made are sensible. But let's quit the 'you're not a Jet fan because you said they WILL lose' crap. To me this game has LETDOWN written all over it. You don't have to agree with me, I don't really care.

We probably wouldn't have a problem with it.

He's not saying he thinks they could lose, he's saying they will. Do you see the difference?

Maybe if we were big underdogs I could see saying we will lose, but c'mon. Some of his points are ridiculous to boot.
The Jets are favored based on 2 things last year Miami being 1-15 and Brett Favre. Now it's your turn to use the thing between your ears, what does last year have to do with anything and since when does one player determine the outcome? I could see it if Brett had taken the Jets to a 13-3 record last year, but he didn't and take away Brett and the Jets were just a 4-12 with or without Chad. So lets be honest here The Jets aren't exactly the Pats, they have proven nothing to this point. Oh sure the line will favor the Jets, but that's hardly proof they'll win the game.

As far as his points go I disagree they're ridiculous. I think Miami will have a lot more to play for in this game, than the Jets. I think will be the motivating factor in the final score. Do I think the Jets can win? Of course, do I think the Dolphins can win? You darn right. I don't think the guy's opinion is out of left field, I think this will be a game either team can win.

Sorry, I know you want us Dolphin fan to bow to the Jets, but I simply don't see the Jets being so much better that we don't have a chance to win this game. Now season predictions are different, but this game, I think Miami has a good chance to win.

1. I can agree w/ #1, we need to win w/ 2 good teams coming up the next 2 weeks.

2. This is as asinine as it gets. Favre has nothing to prove and doesn't want to win?

3. The weather MAY play a factor.

4. We'll see about this. Ronnie is still banged up and Ricky has barebly played in years plus they have a rebuilt OL against our much improved D. If Miami is going to win they will need to control this game on the ground.

5. It's NOT a National stage, it will be the game that goes out to most of the Country but it's still a regional broadcast.

6. Week 1 is NOT a true big game and we've won a hell of alot more big games the last 10 years or so than Miami has.

7. Let's be honest, no one has defended Chad more than I have through the years but he doesn't fit your description anymore. pre-surgery yes but not now. IF healthy he's still good but nothing more than good and the description you gave is oif a great player.

There is no way Miami is scoring 31 points on us.
1. Glad we agree.
2. I didn't say Favre doesn't want to win. Read my post again. I said he won't have as much heart and will as the Fins will have. He has nothing left to prove except that it wasn't a mistake to un-retire, and losing one game against the Fins doesn't prove or disprove that at all. He's a HoF QB and no one questions his accomplishments. All I'm saying is in THIS PARTICULAR GAME he won't match Miami's will to win.
3. Do we agree again?
4. I think we just agreed again.
5. What I meant is that this is no longer preseason. This is going to be a hyped-up story-filled season opener, Favre vs. Chad, unretired old gunslinger vs. discarded QB with chip on shoulder. There will be much attention, and the pressure will be huge.
6. I agree. I've just been a Jet fan for too long to simply KNOW when we are in for one of those letdowns. This game is one of those.
7. I disagree here. I think he is in great form, and with the right supporting cast he can go very deep into the playoffs. I am of the opinion that in the end hard work always pays off, and his work ethic, heart and determination has made him beat all odds. He might not have enough support with the Dolphins to beat us, and I hope he doesn't, but believe me this is one guy you never, ever want to underestimate. I laugh at Jet fans who are willing to completely dismiss the most accurate quarterback in NFL history. The only way we beat him is if we respect what he CAN do.

I'm a Jets fan, have always been one. But here's why the Jets will lose to you guys:

1. They absolutely MUST win this game. With NE and San Diego looming, there will be huge pressure on them to win against the 1-15 Fins lest they start the season 0-3.

2. Their leader is a first-ballot HoF QB with nothing left to prove. He won't have enough heart in this game as the Fins.

3. The weather will play heavily in Miami's favor.

4. The Fin's rushing attack will dominate vs. the Jets' rush, opening up the field to Pennington's play action.

5. Talent-wise the Jets have the better team. But this is a new season, everyone is 0 and 0, the Fins will be on national stage with a huge chip on their shoulder and red hot to come off to a good start after being a 1-15 laughing stock. They will be pumped and ready to hit hard. I'm not saying the Jets won't be, but my bets are on the Fins to push themselves harder because they will want this game more.

6. These are the Jets. They ALWAYS find a way to lose the big ones.

7. Finally, you guys have Chad at the helm, and he will exploit every weakness he can find. I hate to say it, but he is the one QB I do not want to have to face, ever. He's smart, confident, accurate, and he knows exactly where the Jets are weak. He doesn't often make mistakes and he will use every strength the Fins have and bring the max out of them. He will want to beat the Jets badly.

The good news? I can bet on the Fins to win and ease the pain. Because this one is going to hurt.

Prediction: Fins win 31-28.
I am also a Jet fan. And I want to appologize to you Dolphins fans that actually wasted your time reading this. Unfortunately, my fellow Jet fan is a moron. I confirmed my suspicions of him being a moron immediately in the post when I read that Brett Favre won't have enough heart. Say what you want about Favre, but don't ever question his heart. Thats just ridiculous.

I listened to every interview Favre has given since joining the Jets, and I absolutely do question his heart and motives. His legacy is sealed and he has nothing left to prove. When he walks onto that field in Miami it will be about stats, touchdowns, and another win. He will not match Miami's will in this game, and he most certainly will not match Chad's heart in this one.

Short of resorting to name-calling your post added zero value to this thread.

Right, that's all the spread is based on. It has nothing to do with the fact that we replaced 2 starters on our o-line who were cut and not even picked up by another team for depth purposes and replaced them with guys that are significantly better. It has nothing to do with Kris Jenkins, Calvin Pace, Tony richardson, Dustin Keller or any of the other guys. Your breakdown of why the Jets are favored is very poor, I understand you want to feel better about it though. The Jets were the favorite before we got Favre. Vegas has the same spread.

Your comprehension is also piss poor. No where have I ever said that the Jets WILL win. I have said that I'm worried about the game. I've given some reasons similar to the original poster for that worry. I've said the fins can win. Do I think the Jets will? Yeah.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why the Dolphins are supposed to be more motivated to win than the Jets. Yeah, I think that's ridiculous. I think that someone who follows the Jets and knows anything about Favre wouldn't question if his heart is in it. I think that's ridiculous.

To the OP - If you truly are a Jets fan I apologize.

What about his interviews makes you believe that? All I hear him say is it's about the team, it's about winning, he's even said in an interview that he feels like he has something to prove every game.

Smart post, except in regard to stats. That's what's important to Penny. Getting a 3 yard completion on 3rd down & 4 is how he became the most accurate passer in history. I know, I supported him for 6 years until I got tired of losing.

I can try.

I question the heart of a guy who retires and then unretires a dozen times. He's beyond a doubt one of the best QBs to have ever touched a football. This discussion is about his heart and motives, not his skills and talent. I think he's a fighter, I think he's durable, and I think he has great leadership skills. But I don't think he will display the heart, desire, and will to win for a brand new team, surrounded by new faces, that he displayed when he played for Green Bay. To him the Jets are just a new team that allows him to pad his stats, wins, and wallet. Nothing more.

That and running a draw on 3-8 all the time didn't help either. The play calling on offense that the Jets have had for the past 5 years has been atrocious. Unfortunately, Henning was part of that.

I believe you are right.. I will never question Brett Farves will to win. The guy is Without a doubt The NFL poster boy. Not because of the way he loves to be in front of the camera, but because of the way he acts. He plays to win, every game. Thats his weakness and his strength. People still seem to fail to realize that Farve sucked his last two games before last year. Who's to say that isnt the Farve that shows up this year? He has alot of talent around him. Dustin Keller, Chris Baker, Jericho Coultrey (sorry about the spelling), and L. Coles. Not to mention he has a strong running game behind him in: Leon Washington, and Thomas Jones. Look, Im not going to sit here and say Miami is going to beat my hated Jets. I will never say they are going to Lose, either. All I'm trying to say is dont get your expectations too high on a victory in this game..
Now that I said that....... GO DOLPHINS

Erasing the taste of a 1-15 season is sure motivation my friend. Just for a reason.
