why the running game is not working

A lot of people on this site has been raving about the offensive line, the play calling and the running backs as to the reason why the running game is not working. If you have watched both games you will see that the Jets and Cardinals had 8 and sometimes 9 men in the box to stop the run and daring the Dolphins to throw the ball down the field. With no receivers on this team that scares any defensive coordinator or secondary. Pennington's lack of arm strength is part to blame, but he has no one outside to throw to who are open. When Henne was moving the ball it was against a prevent defense as well. So until the Dolphins get at least one receiver who puts fear in the opposing team it doesnt matter who is playing in the backfield. And we do not have Adrian Peterson in our backfield either.

You are 100% correct. Teams do not respect our passing game at all. They are overplaying the run so much that we have no chance to run the ball. We need to start making someplays downfield to soften up the defense. I don't think Pennington is capable. Our receivers are not good enough to get much separation. Combine that with Pennington's lack of arm strength, and it's a bad situation. Henne has the arm to the ball to these guys even with defenders nearby. I think he needs to start. Really. But, it's probably wise to wait until game 5 against Houston to make the change.

Notice once Henne came in slinging the ball around Ronnie was able to get in a few runs AND A FEW CATCHES!?!?! Pennington doesn't throw to the RBs, or it's not called. We also run too much on 1st down. We need to roll with Henne and with the play calling he had when he came in. We need to stop playing to not lose, stop playing it safe and start f_-king playing!! Henne should be starter and we need to throw the damn ball since Henne is the first IN MANY YEARS who actually can throw the damn ball!

I agree 100% and that is the only way we are going to be able to run. I was thinking about how long it has been with QB's that seem to have a problem completing a FORWARD PASS. You know, Fiddler, AJ Feelme, Furrote, Greise, All World Ray Lucas, Beck, etc., etc. My God, we are paying Noodles 6 Mil just for this year and he can't complete a pass down the field. That is so awesome.

i dont hear the falcons or ravens fans or players complaining that they have a rookie playing, roethlisberger was starting very early in his career, cutler started by mid season, edwards started early last year, some guys have it some dont, there is no doubt that henne has it, why?, because he made average WR'S look good, and great players make every one else better, the guy never was second string and played in front of 100 thousand a week for god sake, his last year at michigan he will have played in front of more fans in one game then we can draw in a season right now

the jets fan would tell you differ, two straight games teams have stacked the line of scrimmage which negates ginn our deep threat.

And if Pennington was worth a shiite at all he wouldn't have been cut, right? Or, the Jets wouldn't have been looking for his replacement, right? Or maybe he is so all world they couldn't figure out how to even get a 7th round draft pick for him. I see now.

My memory is fine and Noodles has always sucked.

I'm sure others will say as well. Our Qb is no threat outside 15 yards from the line AND our Oline blows. Ricky and Ronnie are hit in the backfield every play it seems.

Pennington doesn't suck, he just doesn't fit what we need right now. We need more than the ability to hit a TE and allow the D to stack the box on us. We need someone who can stretch the field. I don't know if Henne is that guy, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't find out.
