EAGLES SIGN CLEMONS by Michael David Smith
The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the signing of free agent defensive end Chris Clemons to a five-year contract.

Clemons was a part-time player who started only two game for the Raiders last season, but he still recorded a career-high eight sacks as a situational pass rusher. As a pass rush specialist, he should be a good fit for the defensive scheme run by Eagles coordinator Jim Johnson.
Clemons spent three seasons with the Redskins from 2003 to 2005 and was out of the league in 2006, but his career was revitalized when the Raiders signed him to a one-year deal in 2007.

After signing Asante Samuel yesterday and Clemons today, perhaps tomorrow the Eagles should coax former Colts and Browns receiver Reggie Langhorne out of retirement.

SEVERAL TEAMS INTERESTED IN SHEPPARD by Michael David Smith
It's only been 24 hours since the Philadelphia Eagles signed cornerback Asante Samuel, but they're already hearing from teams interested in trading for the cornerback Samuel replaced in the starting lineup.
A league source tells PFT that several teams are showing preliminary interest in trading for cornerback Lito Sheppard. Those teams include the Texans, Saints, Buccaneers, Browns, Rams and Jets.
A team can never have too many good cornerbacks, and the Eagles could choose to keep Sheppard, especially if they move right cornerback Sheldon Brown to safety. But given how much interest there is in Sheppard, it seems more likely that he'll be shipped elsewhere.
