Weaknesses: Lacks ideal explosiveness and has some problems beating defenders to the point of attack. Doesn’t deliver a violent initial punch, doesn’t roll hips into blocks and isn’t going to knock many defenders back. While flashes good lower body strength doesn’t play with great leverage and isn’t a great drive-blocker at this point. Takes too long to get into pass set and is going to have problems preventing explosive edge rushers from turning the corner. Though flashes ability to anchor against bull rushers doesn’t get great knee bend in pass set and can get pushed back into the pocket

With all due respect to Nate Garner, I believe that James Marten has to be considered more valuable...

I found a Dallas blog dated August 28th, and Marten looks to be doing so bad at tackle, that they moved him to guard-
http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/ar...and-steph.html I don't know for a fact that James Marten will be cut, but the trade for OG Montrae Holland certainly isn't a good sign for last season's third-round pick. Marten, drafted as a right tackle, was moved to guard this spring. All you need to know about his development is that when Kyle Kosier went down, Marten was not one of the three backups the coaches considered as replacements. The 6-7, 315-pound Marten is consistently overpowered at the point of attack. When the Hard Knocks cameras showed OL coach Hudson Houck saying a lineman was "a little light in the [rear]," I assumed he was referring to Marten. The Cowboys didn't hesitate to cut ties with second-rounder Jacob Rogers or third-rounder Stephen Peterman when it was clear those O-linemen were bad picks. Odds are the same thing is about to happen to Marten. On a related note, the trade for Holland isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for the rest of the backup OL

Well when a rookie 6th round draft pick (Donald Thomas) was the best o-lineman against the Jets, it shows our o-line is bad

Sparano/ Ireland worked with him all last year. The front office lack of action is a pretty damming assessment. Even more damning when you realize the team claimed the 6th to last pick in the draft and not Marten. Hell, they picked up 2 7th round OT waivers from teams who finished in the bottom half of the league over Marten.
