Christopher Cornell - All Headline News Sports Reporter

Atlanta, GA (AHN) - The day after the end of the regular season is always a tough one for NFL coaches and this year is no different. The Cardinals decided to let go of head coach Dennis Green on Monday after their disappointing season. And now Jim Mora Jr. has joined the ranks of discarded coaches. The Atlanta Falcons decided to part ways with their head coach after two straight disappointing seasons.

The Falcons did in their coach with poor performances in the second half of the last two seasons. Atlanta went 2-6 last season in their final eight and they lost seven of nine to finish this year.

Team owner Arthur Blank announced the team's decision at a press conference in the Falcons' practice facility.

"This was an extremely difficult decision for us," Blank said in a statement before the press conference. "We had the highest hopes and aspirations for a long run with Jim as our coach, but we feel this decision is in the best long-term interests of our franchise. I have great respect for Jim's passion for the game, and we wish Jim and his family all of the best."
