Has America's Team become the NFL's nightmare?

Quote:
The Cowboys have been America's Team for three decades. Now it seems like they're building America's Most Wanted's team.

It wasn't enough for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to bring in Terrell Owens when Owens was considered the most selfish player in the NFL. He had to bring in serial gun nut Tank Johnson. Then this spring, he acquired cornerback Adam (nee Pacman) Jones, who has been arrested six times. Clearly, Jones is a man who believes in seventh chances.

The Cowboys are not the only team to employ players with questionable backgrounds. Every team does it. And I'm not saying the Cowboys have more designated Problem Guys on the roster than the average NFL team. What makes the Cowboys different is that these are all high-profile players — their question marks are in big, bold type.
And it makes you wonder: If the Cowboys win the Super Bowl, will commissioner Roger Goodell wince when he hands Jerry Jones the trophy?

I seriously doubt that Wade Phillips has a strong enough personality to hold off Jerry Jones on one side, and control the locker room circus with TO, Pacman, Tank, and Romo-Simpson, and keep them all focused on football.

Perhaps they should have built a giant Prison in Arlington, TX rather than a stadium.

Whose the last Cowboy you heard getting arrested?

I hear people fly these jokes around all the time and I'm used to it because everyone hates the Cowboys but seriously it doesn't even make sense.

Cedric Benson, Brandon Marshall, Ahmad Bradshaw, Chris Henry, Charles Grant, Marshawn Lynch, Najeh Davenport, I mean i could go on forever, how many of these players are Cowboys? Players are getting pulled over for DUI's everyday, beating women, failing drug test, but how many of those instances happened with a player on the Cowboys recently? Take as much time as you need....

I understand the jabs and all, but some people take it too far with the snide comments that have no relevance what so ever...Since we should build some huge prison or something because we can't control our teams, those comments would make sense if you were talking about the Bengals...We brought in Tank Johnson whose worst crime was toting around guns, hmmm how about we compare that to Lynch who committed a hit and run and left a woman in the street, or we could go further and talk about Leonard Little who got drunk behind the wheel and KILLED a woman, only to proceed to get another DUI shortly after, but of course, he plays for the Rams so lets not talk about that...How about Charles Grant involved with a pregnant woman getting killed? Guess it would only be important if they played for Dallas.

You can say what you want about Pacman, but I challenge you or anyone else to find 1 player on the Cowboys that has gotten arrested within the past 2 years, or has done anything remotely close to the players I listed above(DUI's, beating their wives, failed drug test, anything), and all this talk about Dallas, there are at least a handful of teams who have had multiple players getting in trouble with the law recently in that timespan.

The facts are that guys haven't been screwing up since they have been in Dallas, the article brings up Tank as a "serial gun nut", well thats fine and dandy but what have you heard about him since he has been here? Not so much as a peep, but yea lets all harp on that, and not talk about continually giving Travis Henry chances, or resigning Leonard Little, or giving Jared Allen a huge deal when he is one DUI away from a suspension...What has TO done since he has been here, other then be a model citizen, and help our younger WR's, but I guess he should be treated like a criminal too, lets not talk about Deangelo Hall and how he was a hothead on the field, in the coaches face, but heck how about throw him 60 million dollars, or maybe Javon Walker who was just involved in an incident, he must play for Dallas too huh? I understand the Cowboys get all the attention, and you either love them or hate them, there is no middle ground, but its ridiculous how much undeserved hate they get with no facts to support the claims.

The Cowboys have had a reputation for bringing in players of the criminal element since the 90's when they had guys like Nate Newton and Michael Irvin and Eric Williams. Not to mention the guys they bring in who aren't trouble makers off the field out of football but guys who are trouble makers in the locker room and with their team mates, and that list is long and prosperous. Did you really expect signing Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones to NOT fuel that old "Cowboy criminal" fire up again?

In response to the 90's comments, I don't understand how the 90's is relevant right now in terms of whats going on in today's game, and the amount of players being arrested on other teams.

As far as your point that I bolded about bringing in troubled guys in the locker room, again how does that translate to building a prison to which you referred to? I hardly think TO and prison should be correlated together, and while you can bring up all you want the things they did before they got to the team, why should we just ignore their behavior since they have been on the team? If TO and Tank were still problems you would bring that up, but because they have been model citizens and helping the younger players since they have been here, we should just ignore their behavior? Also you ignored my question on the last time you heard about a Cowboy player arrested, which leads to my original point, people over exaggerate the Cowboys and this is a prime example...If our players are not getting arrested at all, throwing out a comment about building a prison wouldn't make much sense.

And I listed a long list of players who have been in trouble with the law recently, and I could also pull up teams who have had multiple players be arrested in the past 2 years or be in some sort of trouble with the law, but somehow Dallas is far worse then the bunch all of a sudden for adding Pacman...If our players are getting in trouble they deserve all the flack they get, but thats not the case, and hasn't been the case since the 90's as you mentioned.

Tank Johnson and Terrell Owens haven't hurt a fly, infact TO is one of the most charitable players in the league. What threat does TO pose to anyone in the league off the field? I hate that his name is mentioned with these guys at all. I am not even that big a fan of his just thought he deserves a bit more actual respect.

Cowboys are a nightmare because Pacman loves fake *******? I don't buy it. This writer is reaching for a pre-training camp story.

And by the way, the Cowboys currently have the longest streak in the NFL of days without a player arrested.
