This blurb says the hold up is that the contract offer is longer then the unions agreement with the NFL. There were concerns before about being able to sign this guy to the contract his agent wanted . Maybe this trade gets canceled .

I seem to recall that there were proposed contingency plans in case something like this would happen. I don't remember what they were, but I guess we might just find out about them soon enough.
