Holmes Joining Chiefs for Training Camp

Quote:
Chiefs players are now telling each other that, after two seasons away from football to nurse a spinal injury, the 33-year-old Holmes has been given medical clearance to play and he is planning to participate in this summer's training camp.

This is nuts. A 33 yr old RB, coming back after a spinal injury. I don't think he will have any, if much impact at all. The offense is completely different form the one he ran with Al Saunders and Dick Vermeil. It's a an old, pound the ball style of run game that Herm Edwards likes. I don't think Holmes will make the team.

On the other hand, if he could create enough buzz in TC, LJ might just have to reconsider his plans.

I didn't think he had any tread on the tires left. Good for him. Him and LJ will be a great one two punch. Now only if that line can hold up.

I like the SPEED used twice, because Ginn is twice as fast as everyone else on the field.

I doubt that Holmes will ever make an impact again, if he even ever plays again. He is old for a running back and is coming back from a major injury, i just cant see it happening.

But being behind LJ, he doesn't need to make a big impact. He just needs to shave some carries from LJ, and be a change of pace kind of guy.

Holmes was a straight up stud a few years back. Infact, the year Ricky won the rushing title, Holmes was on pace to easily win it himself before he got injured. Unfortunately for him he's a lot older now and does not have the dominating o-line he had before. Still, he could serve as a good change of pace back and catch a lot of passes out of the backfield.

That reminds me of Holmes and Ricky playing in the same backfield at Texas. Almost as scary as Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders together at Oklahoma State.
