I guess im just not belieiving the feel good story of the year for the NFL.

I think that somewhere the nfl is rigging all this so that they win.

YOU WATCH

SO MUCH FOR THAT THEORY!

The things people come up with is flat out hysterical sometimes.

Oh, wait........ The NFL probably felt the heat with so many internet lunatics having figured them out about rigging games so they double rigged the game today so that the Saints would lose......

But their is no "rigged" BS.

Actually, the Patriots would have been the appropriate team after 9/11. Their colors are red/white and blue and their mascot is, um... a Patriot.

It's not going to make the Lions into a Super Bowl champion, much less a playoff team. It might make an 8-8 team just good enough to make the playoffs or a wild card team that also has a good bit of luck a Super Bowl champion. Even if they were doing this, I can't imagine it would stay secret over a 5+ year period.

My guess is that the biggest real bias comes in scheduling. You can't call what the league did for the Giants in 2005 anything other than giving them a hand up. You also can't tell me that the league is above playing favorites in handing out byes and determining who gets terrible away-home-away scheduling. I don't think that's exactly what could be called fixing things, though.
The schedules are made years in advance.

The point the above poster was making was that New England weren't even all of that close to ground zero, whilst the Jets and Giants were.

Seriously, is your memory that impaired? Was anybody talking about the New England Patriots after 9/11? No...the football media focused on how it impacted the NEW YORK teams, and did not even include the Buffalo Bills, since they are upstate.

Such a conspiracy theory would not make a lick of sense, because the general populace was typically too stupid to pick up on it. Other than wannabe internet conspiracy theorists, who else was pointing that out?

I believe he is referring to the sequence of the schedule, which is not set years in advance.
