Unless he's dying for the money I'd prefer to see him to retire than play the 5th WR spot. Not that he cares what I think.

I have so much respect for Jerry Rice, I hate to see him be a fifth receiver.

Jerry Rice is a Classy guy. He'll do the right thing. He actually wanted to play for the Niners this season, But mike Nolan wanted to go with youth. Otherwise Rice may very well have been playing this season for them.

I dont see why he cant make the San Francisco ROSTER and play there for a few more years? He could at least be a 3rd stringer there. But anyway, i'll miss Jerry Rice, the greatest player in NFL History, a stand up guy. They'll never be another.....

I'm really surprised, I honestly was looking for Jerry Rice to play for Denver this season and I think he only needs 3 more receiving touchdowns until he gets 200 receiving touchdowns. Jerry Rice is one of the most classiest players to ever play this sport, I wish him the best on with whatever he decides. I had no idea he had a nagging foot injury, but I respect the fact that he's making it sound like he knows he's had the spotlight for 20+ years and it's time for the youngers guy to get their shot. A true class act, no matter what he decides (I really don't want to see Rice go... just 1 more season would be great), but I wish him the best with his decision. Not only the greatest WR to ever play the game, he may very well be the best player to ever play the game and he's got all the records to prove it.
