Julius Peppers?

According to PFT
PANTHERS SHOPPING PEPPERS?
We've received several e-mails over the past couple of days regarding rumors that the Carolina Panthers are poised to trade defensive end Julius Peppers.
And so we've actually engaged in a little "real" journalism -- and in some of our good, old-fashioned rumor mongering.
There are rumors in league circles that the Panthers are quietly shopping Peppers. He has a big cap number in 2008, and there's a school of thought that the Panthers aren't willing to pay him what it would take to keep him over the long haul, especially since the price tag could go up if/when the Ravens sign Terrell Suggs to a long-term deal.

As a Tar Heel, I'd love to have Peppers as a Phin, although I don't know how well he'll fit in a 3-4 D. He's 6-7, 283 and only 28, and I believe that last season (only 2.5 sacks) was a fluke for him.

What do you think?

Hate to give up draft picks for anybody. This team has been draft poor and suffered from it.

Any talk of any Peppers is useless. The Panthers GM came out and even put this rumor down.

Marty Hurney thought it was so ridiculous he even made a statement on it:

Quote:
Panthers general manager Marty Hurney doesn't like rising to the bait on such things, but he's pretty clear about one thing that cropped up Friday.

"We are not trying to trade Julius Peppers," Hurney said. "There's nothing to it."

Also, why would they take JT for Peppers? These people aren't loopy, they're in that position (except Al Davis and Matt Millen) for a reason. J. Taylor is old and arguably not as good as Peppers.

I read this article also, but I can't see Foxy doing this. Peppers is an exceptional DE. I'd love to have him, but I put him in the Larry Fitz category...ain't gonna happen...

I guess you could make an argument that Taylor is not as good as Peppers. Especially if you look beyond the numbers that states over the past three seasons, Taylor has nearly 45 more tackles, 10.5 more sacks, 2 more interceptions, and 3 more interceptions returned for touchdowns than Peppers.

What an awful fit for a 3-4 defense.... He was a non-factor without strong support on the line.... What would he bring in space? Nothing...
