Kita Expects (Not Predicts) 10 Wins For Lions

Kitna expects 10 wins for Lions

Posted: Sunday March 16, 2008 08:34AM ET

Jon Kitna is at it again. The Lions' quarterback once again set the standard for their 2008 season as 10 wins or bust. Kitna didn't make a prediction, referring to it rather as a statement of fact. He would be disappointed if the Lions don't win 10 games with the -- ahem -- improvements they've made in coaching and player personnel.

This guy needs to be quiet. Just let the play do the talking.

HysterikiLL is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't see what is wrong with Jon saying this. And likely it was brought out in response to a presser question or something of that nature. It's not like he went and called a press conference on his front lawn wearing a baking apron and "Kiss the Chef" attire, and proclaimed to the land his great expectations. I think "this guy just needs to be quiet" is uncalled for. Kitna is a starting QB in the NFL, not a housewife in the 17th century.

Lions could of won ten games..if they didnt get rid of kevin jones..they did improve there secondary thou...but they have no one on the d-fensive line...

Kitna needs to pick his battles..i dont mind this comment but when he said theat Bell was a better RB then Jones..now thats just plain stupid...i think they should start Staton...

nothing wrong with a guy being confident in his team. at least he's not guaranteeing it like last year.

Kitna... as awful as he can be sometimes, you cant ever question his determination, toughenss and heart on the field. I think he knows that he's fighting a loosing battle in Detroit. Especially with Drew Stanton waiting in the wings.

Tom "killer" Kowalski who writes for www.mlive.com was on a local radio station here saying next week that Stanton has an excellent shot at starting this year and that infact his injury last year was not severe enough to warrant being put on IR for the season however martz wanted it to come down to kitna, and his "guy" JT O'sullivan. Killer also went on to mention that Martz wanted Beck, not Stanton. And now with Martz out of the picture in Detroit, and O'sullivan following Martz, the time is now for Stanton to prove his worth. Hopefully theres something on mlive.com about it(id look but im at work right now), because it was quite interesting to hear him talk about it on the radio.

but yeah, bottom line, I dont think theres anything wrong with a guy being confident, and saying they expect to win 10. as i said, at least he didnt guarantee it like he did last year.

If you were a Detroit fan, I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if Kitna said something along the lines of 'There's no way we stand a chance of winning ten games this season'. What's he supposed to say?

Don't say anything other than we will let the play do the talking. You don't see Peyton Manning coming in the press saying " I think we should win all sixteen this year". Instead, he goes out and just does his job, thats why I admire him, Marvin Harrison and even the whole Colts organization so much. They just shut up and do what they can to succeed in this league. When they lose, they dont make any excuses, they just credit the other team for being better prepared and making more plays. When they win, they still dont talk. They always say " we will relish this win through the rest of the night and tomorrow we will start preparing for (insert team name)". Basically what I am trying to say is, Kitna just needs to shut up and play.
