Letter to the EditorThe following is an honest-to-goodness letter to the editor of my hometown paper. I got a kick out of it and wanted to share. Enjoy.
TO THE EDITOR: I would like to ask the public if they watch pro football and wonder how it is possible for all of these games to end with the score so close together? I have my opinion as how this can happen. It was once told by an ex pro player that the NFL was a business. I asked him if it was rigged and he said he did not say that, but funny things tend to happen that you would normally not see in a pro game. After watching the Dallas game Saturday night, I do have the opinion that this league’s games are decided before the games begin. I have watched other games, and one of the most evident things to watch is in the middle of the year to see an 11-2 team get beat by a 2-11 team. The loss doesn’t hurt the 11-2 team, but sells more seats the next week for the 2-11 team. Remember, this is my opinion and I’m not saying that the NFL rigs its games, but watch for flags on plays that could decide the outcome. You might be surprised. I have stopped watching the games on this account. I will watch a couple of plays late in the game to see if I see funny things. I do believe this will be uncovered one day and will set football back 50 years. I just hope TV and gambling don’t get to college football the way it looks in the pros.

![]() So he takes the statement that 'The NFL is a business' mixes it with natural human error 'bad calls' and somehows comes to the conclusion that NFL games are rigged.
