I agree we made a hell of a move, I like Cameron and Wayne did a great job.

I don't see him leaving anytime soon, & i definitely don't see Chicago leting him go either. I would venture to guess that there will be a nice contract extension offered to him when the season ends.

We need some offense and that's why we hired Cameron.

The Bears would probably get at least 2 firsts and 2 seconds.

At least if SaTan left us for another NFL team we would have received some picks

As the Bears swing into final approach for the Super Bowl, coach Lovie Smith's contract situation keeps coming up, even as Bears management insists talks of an extension are just on hold until after the Super Bowl. But if talks are going well, skeptics say, they usually aren't suspended. Bears President Ted Phillips insisted Wednesday "it wasn't about the money," challenging two separate reports from different sources that the Bears had offered Smith less than $3 million annually in a multiyear extension. That offer was made after the Bears said talks were being put off but decided to make one more pass, a source familiar with the negotiations said. That figure would more than double Smith's salary of $1.35 million, which is virtually the same now as coach Dave Wannstedt's at the end of his tenure eight years ago. Smith has expressed a strong desire to stay with the Bears, as did Dick Jauron. But wishful, feel-good statements are not memorandums of understanding. Sources say the sides are far apart on the money.

Bears | L. Smith expected to sign a long-term extension after Super Bowl
Wed, 24 Jan 2007 20:17:24 -0800

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears president and CEO Ted Phillips said he expects head coach Lovie Smith to sign a long-term contract extension after the Super Bowl. The team has had preliminary discussions with Frank Bauer, Smith's agent. The two sides agreed to suspend talks until after the postseason. Phillips said, "The money's going to work itself out. I know everybody has their opinion. I read something in the paper the other day that we offered Lovie a contract for $3 million a year, which is a complete falsehood; it's not accurate. I'm not going to tell you what status we're at. I've talked to Frank Bauer. I've known Lovie's agent for a long time and I have no doubt we'll get a deal done."
