McCardell must repay Buccaneers $1.5 millionAn arbitrator has ruled that wide receiver Keenan McCardell, who held out for the entire 2004 offseason and nearly half of the regular season in a contract dispute, must repay the Tampa Bay Buccaneers $1.5 million of the bonuses he received from the team in 2002.
The team last year filed a grievance, seeking repayment of a prorated share of a signing bonus and roster, and arbitrator Shyam Das sided with the Bucs' contention McCardell violated terms of his contract with the five-month holdout. Tampa Bay will realize a salary cap savings of $1 million for the 2006 season. The holdout ended when the Bucs traded McCardell to San Diego for third- and sixth-round choices in the 2005 draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2181029

Yes..... yes we do. Its also good for the NFL's other 31 clubs. An important precedent has been set, and really enforces what a contract should be. Kudos to the judge for seeing it that way. |

Sorry but I don't feel sorry for McCardell. You sign a contract and you live up to it. These clowns always want to rework their deal....I cant go tell my boss I am gonna sit out a few weeks or months until I get a few dollars an hour more...sorry Keenan, go cry me a river somewhere else.

I am very happy to see a player not winning in this kind of battle. Maybe next time he will rethink about his contract situation.
