February 8 (12:01 AM): Eagles tag TE â€¦ Philadelphia has applied a franchise tag to TE L.J. Smith, who was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the month. Thursday marked the first day of the offseason that teams could use the tag. Although Smith can receive offers from other teams, the tag gives the Eagles seven days to match. A team signing him would have to give up two first-round picks as compensation.

there goes 1 option althoguh i wasn't that interested in it.

ya i wasn't a fan of his he has declined a lot. just posting news for those that wanted him. TE should be addressed via draft. i dont wna hear the trufant/ARamsougha tag itll depress me

L.J. Smith would make a great catch and then he'd drop a long pass right in his hands and would kill a drive. He's frustrating to watch. We can do better then him.

I can't imagine using the franchise tag on that guy, what an abuse of the tag. God the Eagles make me scratch my head.

I know it doesn't belong here, but I just wanted it to get exposure so that all who were debating drafting a TE or signing one if FA had the info. On the main board it just gets more views, thus disseminating the info sooner. Thanks to the Mods for their understanding

I don't know why they are wasting the franchise tag on this guy. Nobody wants him, they should just let him go into FA
