Just for a laugh, wouldn't it be funny if they went 8-8 next season

18-1 to 8-8

Somehow they will land on their feet. I hate them. I just know some how they will be fine. :'(

That really is big news. I had expected NE to make a pretty big effort to keep him. In spite of the fact that Gay is not an elite DB, he's been an important cog in their defensive wheel. Furthermore, I have read that Eugene Wilson is lining up visits. Wilson isn't an elite DB either, but, like Gay he's been a significant part of their defense.
Even if Moss does re-sign NE is not going to be the powerhouse they've been. Not even close. I'm not saying they're going to drop off the map. But they're going to have a harder time winning games. Not winning our division is going to be a real possibility.
Oh well, I guess we'll see if Belichick is really the genius Pats fans say he is.

Wilson spend 2 yrs in IR and this year was out of 6 games so the last 48 games he has been a cog in the defence for a 10 games this year.He was 7th DB in the back field depth chart for those.
randel gay was IR for 2 yrs too and this year he played a bit in nickel package.

09 2 big FA from the pats are vince wilfork and logan mankins. think can you see any other 25 yr old probowl NT in the last few years or a probowl 25 yr old left gaurd in recent FA .......

There has been a lot of speculation about the Eagles and Patriots discussing a deal regarding Lito. If Lito does get traded, look for him to be in a NE uni. Possibly exchange could be a middle round draft pick.

Maybe Vince would be willing to come home and play under BP's reigns. I think if we show good improvement, that could be a likely scenario.

after what contract avg DT are getting i think he is going to be a big signing. jamal is old in SD and charger might break the bank or even the steelers ,49,jets and dolphin. he is going to make alot of dough. even clevland .their are no 25 NT in NFL now.

i have a feeling BB/Scott are going to offer him a contract this year. with 22 million in cap space and if moss does not sign look for vince to cash in followed by mankins.

This shows us a major thing about the salary cap era: you can only keep a good team together for so long. That's why drafting well and hitting on those late picks is crucial; you need cheap players to fill holes. (This is why I cringe whenever I read someone saying "eh, it's a 6th round pick, who cares?")

I'm pretty sure Eugene Wilson started 6 games this year? (question mark because I could be mistaken) While Gay wasn't a starter, being the nickel back, as well as starting in the SB says alot about his contributions - likewise Wilson.
Satz, I know you love your team. But the Pats are going to have trouble this year. Losing the above, along with Samuel, Colvin and probably Seau is going to make it a lot harder to hang onto a lead. On offense Stallworth signed with the Browns. And Moss may end up signing elsewhere. To be honest, I'm really surprised that the Pats even let Moss test the waters. I would have thought that above all getting him locked up quick would have been the biggest priority. The longer Moss remains unsigned, the greater the chance that he goes somewhere else. Chargers, Indy, NO, GB, Jax...even Dallas or Chicago. A case could be made for any of them being one "Moss" away from the SB.
But again I just believe that the Pats are going to be fighting for wins as much as everyone else does.

I believe Eugene started six and played in 11.
