What happens to the Saints if Katrina rolls through?

Of course there are more things to worry about concerning the city of New Orleans than the Saints, but I came across this..

In August of 2000, Joseph Suhayda, director of the Louisiana Water Resources Research Institute at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge said:
"A slow-moving Category 3 or any Category 4 or 5 hurricane passing within 20 or 30 miles of New Orleans would be devastating."

The storm surge water pushed into a mound by hurricane winds would pour over the Pontchartrain levee and flood the city. A severe hurricane could push floodwaters inside the New Orleans bowl as high as 20-30 feet, covering most homes and the first three or four stories of buildings in the city, he says. "This brings a great risk of casualties."

In this type of scenario the metro area could be submerged for more than 10 weeks, says Walter S. Maestri, Director of Emergency Management for Jefferson Parish, which encompasses more than half of the city. In those 10 weeks, residents would need drinking water, food and a dry place to live.

10 weeks is a long time.. Would they play their games somewhere else? I figure it would be a logistical mess to play in New Orleans this year if this hurricane imposes the catastrophic damage it is expected.. We are scheduled to play in NO on Oct 30th..

On a side note, is Saban's family in Miami now?

Regardless, Godspeed and God bless all in the path of this monstrocity..

I couldn't really say, but I pray for all those people who had no way to get out of the city. I just hope that they can stay as safe as possible.

I have 50 yard line tickets for the Saints game, so I'm praying for the city.

Hurricane Katrina+ Thurs night game

Now that its at a Category 5.. that's getting pretty intense.. New orleans would be a write off for this week..... but what are the chances that Thursday night's game against Atlanta will be affected by it???????

little affect other than rain, unless it's projected path changes.

Na, Miami already got what they were going to get from Katrina. The Hurricane will have no affect on Thursday's game.

I hope so, but won't Vick only play one or two plays? Roth needs to light him up quick!

I didn't even think about the Saints. Flooding may not damage the stadium, but the surrounding area could suffer. Hopefully it isn't as bad as everyone is predicting, but I bet the NFL has some sort of backup plan for the Saints in case of a disaster like this.

isn't the stadium being used as a shelter? I thought I saw them letting people in on the news this morning. I didn't catch what was being said.
