MNF "B" team... a question...

what genius at ESPN actually thought Mike cubed would be a good idea to call a nationally televised NFL game?

Ditka, Greenberg, and Golic... it's so awkward, my ears are bleeding

As good as I think Jaworski is and I do like Mike & Mike in the morning but this is bad. I can barely tolerate Ditka when he is on tv. Since they knew the schedule before hand I wonder why they didn't take one of their more known college announcers and put them on.

Though maybe the thinking was 10 pm start not many are going to watch anyways.

they do this every year now.

no shock they give them the Raiders every year in this timeslot it seems like. Or the 49ers.........

Mike Golic is actually very bitter towards ESPN. He was very upset a few years ago he was passed over for Tony K. And took shots at Tony K in numerous newspapers at the time that were very personal in nature and way out of bounds. So, Golic is a blowhard who will try and showoff tonight........but he will still suck

As much as I cant stand even listening to their radio show(for various reasons. Basically it sucks. They spend too much time on nonsense and too little time on sports. When they do talk about sports they are clueless, so basically its a horrible show) these guys are even worse calling the action at a live game.

Did anyone listen to how Greenberg was attempting to describe that huge pass play by the Broncos with the TE? Horrible. That was a huge play taking place and he was butchering the action.

I'm waiting for the "boom goes the dynamite" kid to show up. Mercy, Greenberg can't do play-by-play even if he wanted to.

True.

I loved the Raiders first kick off return. Greenberg: "There's a hole, there he goes". No mention of who caught it, where he caught it, where is was, or where he was going.

Just think. If it werent for clueless fans who play too many video games, watch too little real games, and sweat ESPN personalities (Kornballheiser, almost the whole around the horn crew etc etc..) we wouldnt even have to tolerate these guys.

These guys create personalities and they arent even entertaining. Which is what these casual fans who try and pretend they have real knowledge enjoy. They enjoy the stupid non-sports related skits, and know as little about the games as guys like Greenberg, so their show becomes popular.

Thats all fine and good because I can CHOOSE NOT TO WATCH their shows. But, when they place them in situations like calling games, if I want to watch the game, I havent much of a choice but to hear these clowns talk about a game they know nothing about.

If it werent for their popularity on these stupid MTV style sports shows on ESPN, thanks to the type of fans Im talking about, the rest of us wouldnt have to tolerate them in situations like this.

i don't see how they're that bad. Kornheiser is a billion times worst. i love the guy, but he just doesn't understand the live dynamic of reacting to what is going on during a football game. it's very painful.

I feel like I am watching Mike and Mike.... (and Mike) in the morning... MNF edition. It is kinda weird.

I wish they would bring Brad Nessler in like they did 2 years ago. Nessler, Jaws, and Vermeil was an outstanding crew.

Well, WVdolphan, it doesn't seem like we agree on to many things, but you are dead on here. I can't stand ESPN anymore. I'm so glad for NFL Network and that I don't have to deal with all these "know-it-all" celebrity personalities.

It was bad. I dont think Mike, Mike, or Ditka understand what they have to do in a situation like that.

Ditka just mumbles and stutters worse than Jon Madden, while little mike doesnt seem to understand football, and the big mike doesnt know how to talk about football.

It was as if they were on the couch next to you talking during the game. I just wish I could have told them to shut up and watch the game.

It would have been worse, but after seeing it was a blowout and not seeing much out of the raiders rookie RB, I changed the channel.

I can tolerate Kornheiser because I think Jaworski is great in the booth and he picks up the slack.

This is just me but I preferred the old set-up where the MNF was bigger than the SNF. I also preferred NFL Primetime to Football Night or whatever it is that NBC does.

Still I think Gus Johnson in the booth makes games impossible to listen to.
