Money problems?!?!

What I really hate are when big time players complain about money, and THINK they have the luxury of choosing how much money they want. Then they use the excuse that they need to support a family. What?!?! 2.5 million or even 1 million a year is not enough?!?! Well I'll tell you something, there are people so poor out there that are greatful for one dollar. I dont want this to be a rampage, but its just a serious thought, and players need to stop being greedy, saying they deserve big money, if any deserves big dough its the soldiers in Iraq for sure, putting theur lives on the line. Just my thoughts on athletes nowadays, and we have seen it with Surtain and other big timers. Its unfortunate IMO. But again, just my thoughts, dont flame me.

I agree 500% and i will take it one step futher . these guys would jump off a high rise building if they had to go from 2 million per year to 16,000 a year or 9,000 per year which is what i made the last two years.

our system is upside down...entertainer\athaletes make millions...teachers, police, firemen, etc. make thousands. that said, i also hate to hear winey pro-athaletes, but they're part of the product owned by people who make billions. so i think they are due they're share

HEY! I don't know about you, but keeping my family happy driving Bentlies, employing a 10 member staff, 15 body guards, eating caviar and other french plates for dinner, owning more gold then some mines, 15 cars, a 36 room 45,000sf mansion is damn expensive!! If I made less then 10 million a year, I'd have to quit football and beg on the streets to make ends meet!!

You think that limo that drives my 4yr to and from day care is cheap!?! I'm married, hell, I'm half broke!!

So weird how everything is upside down, entertainer/athletes making more than teachers, and people who put their lifes down to save or protect others. I mean we all loves athletes, and Im sure we all love money:evil: but give it to those who deserve it.

I totally agree....also, some people say that injuries can cost you your football career, which is true, but football players retire when they're in their 30's (sometimes 40's)....and there is plenty of time to have an outside job after that. Where are they initially recruited from?? COLLEGE!!! That usually indicates that they SHOULD have some type of degree so they have something to fall back on when they're football career ends. Anyone in their right mind would want to be well off, but at this day and age, many football players salaries are plain ridiculous, yet to them, their exuberant salaries aren't enough.

I disagree. 2.5 million is a lot, but he is worth 5 or 6 million why should he take the deal? Why not wait for a better offer. The owners are going to be making tens and tens of millions off him he helps the team why not get what he deserves? Of course to poor people, or normal people, 2.5 million is great and we'd jump on it. But he deserves to get paid according to his skill level not according to how much money a poor person would take.

You know, I have to disagree with you. Ty Law is an outstanding player and if he can play nearly as well as he did before his injury he is possibly the best in the league, he should be paid what he is worth. Football players are just like us only on a larger scale. I don’t think anybody will disagree with me that professional athletes make way more than they should for playing a game for a living but that is irrelevant to my point but worth mention none the less. I am sure a lot of people here can see where I am coming from with this; lets say you bust you’re a$$, 9-5 every day for $35,000 a year. You are good at your job but someone who is less productive is making $45,000 a year, you have every right to complain and most of us would. The better worker should make more money than the other guy because of his commitment to his job and how hard he works. It would anger any one of us to have a resume that could get us a $65,000 a year job and only be offered $50,000 while a less talented worker making the 65 we are shooting for. Just my $0.02

My opinion on this matter is players in general are not overpaid, but a select few are. The NFL brings in billions of revenue each year. Its a worldwide thing. I think its only fair players get a large porition of the money, but you shouldnt say stuff like i need to feed my family. That is just an idiotic comment when you are making millions.

I agree with you both, Shula and Passrush, I understand what you guys are saying. I guess I didnt word what I was trying to say very well, but of course we all love to see our athletes and they great contributions to our society, what Im trying to say basically is I dont like the greed, or whatever it may be, for more and more money.

I don't think you should be making 5-6 million a year for a sport that you supposedly love. If 2.5 mil is alot....what is 5-6 mil considered?? Those are just ridiculous amounts of money....but we're helping to pay their salaries by raised ticket and concession prices....so no big deal, right?

Good point, I never really thought of it that way. It may not be fair to the working man but with all the revenue the NFL generates each year the players should be entitled to a fair amount.
