Najeh Davenport Released

ESPN just reported the Steelers have released six-year veteran RB Najeh Davenport because they could not trade him.

I know, I know. Another player release thread. But this is a guy who rushed for a career best 499 yards and 4.7 ypc last year. With Ronnie coming off of injury, we could use another established guy in the rb core. It would be an interesting pickup. Have him come into training camp and see if he can earn a spot. Having options in the running game can only help.

I really dont think we need any help at the RB position, we have Ricky and Ronnie plus we have Patrick Cobbs who provided some decent help. Also we drafted two guys in the 6th round.

well,if by chance he was brought in and taken a look at,he'd be coming back to the town where he won a National Championship at with the Canes. i know some of you will probably say no to bringing him in,and some may say yes,but i say it can't hurt to take a look at him. he's a veteran and he could be good to spell either Ricky or Ronnie once in awhile and for short yardage situations. i know we have Regan Mauia,Boomer Grigsby,Jalen Parmelee, and Lex Hilliard;but still,it can't hurt to take a look at him.

yes he was and he was absolutley not wanting to come here.

dont you guys think its time to look froa wr and cb. that is my priority anyways i have a bad feeling that Will Allen might be is some heck of a financial mess.

bedsides we still the Jugernault as well.

i think we shoul be looking at possible receivers, tightends, and cornerbacks and a dt or two.

Keep him on our radar in case Ronnie has a set back, too bad he cant play FB because all we have is scrap parts there at this point. Not a good character guy let him sit.

I'm not sure Cobbs makes the team if Parmele and especially Hilliard show talent on special teams.

Other than I would sign him just because he is a former Cane, I don't see why. Its crowded enough back there now.

I don't think he has the drive to be a Parcells player. It was some years back, but I got the impression that he really didn't mind being a back-up. When you have the opportunity to be THE man, and turn it down, that's a red flag to me.
