NEWS ALERT: NFL close to making a 17 game regular season schedule?

Story to air tonite on SportsCenter. Sounds interesting I would guest that if they added a game then they would have to add another bye week therefore making it 17 games with two bye weeks. If my math is right that would add an extra 2 weeks to an already 16 game schedule and 17 week season inculding the bye week. Making it now a 17 game schedule and an 19 week season including the extra bye week. That would extend the season at least a month.

thoughts???

I don't like the idea. If it is a month longer...the additional wear and tear on the players' bodies will definitely take its toll.

THis is bogus. Preaseason are the only games where rookies are allowed to play and i see no need to do this .

i would say yes to 17 games if 2 by weeks are included..

I dont understand why americans want very few football months in their lifes...

Dont you guys want more of Dolphins football??

It could be easily done with more bye weeks and a 63 man roster.

Anyway, since that seems to be the opinion of the majority... what would you guys think about having college football in another month span instead of being september to december like the NFl??

The story actually said that one pre-season game would be eliminated and this was thrown out as a "possible" change to help bring in more revenue so a labor agreement could be reached.

17 is an odd number, it doesn't work. One team has 8 home games and another you're fighting for a playoff spot with has 9 home games? Although I do like the idea of home games here against northern teams in dark uniforms in August. Evens out the home field advantage they get in December and January.

17 is dumb. There must be a similar number of home and away games for everyone.

Well didn't the NFL have some kind of plan to still keep the 8-8 home and away but have each team play in some kind of away venue somehow. Be it over seas in England, or across the borders in Canada or Mexico for one game, or maybe even stage a game in the LA Colosseum or something. So it would be 8 home 8 away and 1 neutral? I thought that was their plan i forget where i heard that.
