NFL coaching comings and goings

Six teams have changed coaches since the end of the 2006 season, and the moves came in a number of ways -- two retired (Bill Cowher and Bill Parcells), one left for college (Nick Saban) and three were let go by their teams (Dennis Green, Jim Mora and Art Shell). They're replacements include two from the college ranks (Lane Kiffin and Bobby Petrino), while the other four were coordinators for other teams.

Well it's kind of hard to choose being that none of the new coaches have yet to call a play in the NFL with their new team as of yet, but out of pure speculation my guess would be Green to Whisenhunt.

Obviously the poll is going to go towards Cameron, since this is a Fins board.

I personally think the best two hires are Whisenhunt and Cameron.

Petrino is another college coach, Tomlin only had one year as a coordinator and Kiffin is way to young and inexperienced.

I think Tomlin has the best chance out of those three to have success in the NFL.

Phillips is an OK hire, nothing to excite you, but nothing to make you pull your hair out(see Oakland). He has a winning record as a NFL head coach, but he probably isn't the guy to take them all the way.

So here is how I rank them:

1a. Whisenhunt
1b. Cameron
3. Tomlin
4. Phillips
5. Petrino
6. Kiffin

Exactly, my reasoning for the choice is the Card's offensive weapons that are already on the current roster combined with Ken's/Russ's play calling should equal to good things in this franchise's future, if and only if they can sure up that O-line, which I believe they can and will address via the coming draft & FA.

yeah, i think it also matters what situation they go into. Even if Kiffin is a good coach he doesnt have the same opportunity some of the others do.
You got to like Whisenhunts chances down in Ariz. Weak division, plus young upcoming players = good situation

Well lets look at the whole package. We had a top five D that will no doubt return 90% of it's talent, we add a HC who was the #1 rated OC in the NFL and near top of the league the last 4 years. Don't be fooled by San Diego's talent, Cam was as good an OC, as the talent they had, he was able to create gameplans that drove teams nut's. So given what we have and what was added, we could eaisly have made the biggest splash in the HC search. Cam was also responsible for the output of Brees and Rivers because being a QB guy is his specialty.Cam is also familiar with McIntosh, Lemon, Welker and Houck working with them in San Diego. As for Culpepper, Lemon and Harrington or whomever the next Dolphin QB is we will have a much improved QB group thanks to Cam.

This ofcourse is just speculation, but Miam's biggest weakness has been their Offense. We got a big boost to that side of the ball with Cam. Capers has HC experience as does MM and that should help in Cams transition. If we just move up 5 spots on O from last year that would put us in the top 15 ranking on O. I think we'll be better then top 15! BTW, we will most likely have Ricky back too.

Well in the afternoon Saturday, on ESPN Radio, on the NFL show John Clayton has every Saturday in the offseason, during the end on the 4 downs segment, one of the questions was, of all the new HC, which will be more successful, the guy that was with Clayton (Could not make out his voice...it was not Salisbury steak), but he picked Whisenhunt or Tomlin (Can't remember), and Clayton said he liked the pick Of Cameron.

I agree with Clayton.

I think the Cardinals move was the best so far. Let's hope Cameron proves us wrong.

I hate to say it but I think Whisenhunt inherited a more talented roster. Arizona's ready to win right now. I'm not sure the Dolphins are as it stands today.

:yeahthat: What makes them think Petrino can make Vick into a good passer anyway? Maybe they'll try runnng the option again
