I think he is getting a raw deal. I dont see how certian guys that have played worse or the same as him are getting better deals. Maybe teams are bothered by him being his own agent but Trent Green gets a solid deal and has sucked two years in a row and Daunte only gets the minimum thats not right.

On paper I'd agree but in reality, his self-representation only puts the exclamation mark on "trouble" in the perception of the FOs. Remember how he defied Childress and MNs front office refusing to rehab in an organized program in MN but instead choosing his own gym somewhere in a FL shopping center behind a Sears?, how he told interested parties not to waste a trade pick for him since he'll be suing for his freedom and they could get him for free??? not to mention his poor judgement on that hooker cruise on Lake Minnetonka, whether he was complicit or not?? I believe that if a dire need surfaces, he'll be snapped up, but until then, his past actions and attitudes coupled with his own bullheaded representation screams "red flag" and "bad news" whether it's accurate or not because perception is reality.

He isnt getting a raw deal. The commishes office even told him if he wants to play that he would need to be willing to accept a backup job and accept the league minimum. He is simply over valuing himself. Its that simple.

Rod Woodson and the gang were talking about this earlier on NFLN. They agreed that Daunte is messing it all up for himself and that it isnt about him being his own agent. Woodson even said Daunte needs to "check his ego". He said he got offered the league min. to back up in Green Bay and turned it down before he talked to the commish, and then even after he was advised that he should be willing to accept the league min. he turns down the offer in Pittsburgh. Daunte is a moron.

Woodson went on to say that Daunte needs to just get himself back in the league and try and make the most of it. That he is doing himself no favors and until he checks his ego that he simply isnt going to get work. He then went on to talk about Doug Williams who found himself in a similar spot only to sign a weak deal to backup Jay Schrader. And then guess what. He found himself in a good spot when Schrader went down and was able to take advantage and lead the skins to a win in the bowl.

Daunte needs to take the deal he can get, hope he can work his way into some playing time and make the most of it. Then maybe he can get a more legit offer when his contract is up. Or maybe like Woodson said, he could sign with the right team, get a break, the starter gets hurt and he could find himself leading a team into the playoffs and parlay it into a starters contract in the offseason somewhere. Daunte blows anyway. Dlockz still loves him. And David Carr.

On a side not Vaark.....not in this post, but often you use too many words that are beyond my vocabulary. Not, that Im a moron, but your knowledge of the english language definately extends past mine. Any chance you can dumb it down just a notch or two in the future? Seriously.

Have you still not considered that Green is just plain better than Culpepper?? Maybe you should. Then dont throw out a bunch of stats. Just come to terms with the FACT that Green is the better player and accept that it is the main reason Green has a job in the league, with a solid backup contract and Culpepper dosent. Culpepper could have a job at least, just not as much money, but only if he quits being a moron and accepts damn near a million bucks to play(well hell, just hang out on the bench) football for a few months. It cant be a bad gig really. Id take that league minimum in a second.

Green sucks statwise, resultwise and actualwise. Green was not even better than Frerotte who for some reason STL dumped to get washed up Green.

Here is stud Green'spreseason stats 33 percent completion with a 53 qb rating. Dont worry Linhan will finally run STL into the ground this season as a coach.

I know u hate Culpepper but he was the starting qb for 3 of thier 4 wins last year and would have been a much better choice to keep than aquire Green. Would still have had a 5th round pick and might have had a qb that could last 5 games before he got injured again. Im satisfied that Daunte probably is not the player he was but neither is Green. There is clearly some bias against Culpepper by teams around the league. You are telling me that he is only worth the minimum but Green is worth three times that.
dont want either as my qb at this point but Green has proven to be no better on the field the past two seasons

Thanks for the props; I think that CPep is one of our few common grounds, eh? He wasn't given a fair shot by Cam I agree but the moronic Gandhi analogies, sabataging of potential trades and general douchedom just fortified my prior reservations about signing him up.

That letter pretty much embodies what I said about Culpepper in the last thread. The man refuses to humble himself. He still believes that it's 2004, and he still thinks he's one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks. Until Dumbte checks his ego at the door, he's going to be looking for work for a LONG time.

He's running out of time; he's not getting any younger (31 years old and likely not in football shape). Remember, 27 is the new 50 according to Finheaven.

You bet there is and IMO he has earned it!

first lets look at his physical abilities

1. Even at his best his statics are questionable arguments can made both ways of weather or not he deserved the accolades he recieved. I understand you believe them to be valid but alot people don't agree. So right there that eliminates a certain percentage of coaches that would be intrested in him.

2. He has yet to prove he has regained 100% of his mobility back. That eliminates more teams fromhaving intrest in him because even if they believed the old Dauntee was good they dont believe he is that guy anymore.

Now lets talk about his conduct.

3. He has exhibited a selfishness and lack of team spirit. He pouts and throws tantrums when he wants to play and is benched. he does not shine to the idea of taking a mentor type role on the team. He is a high matinence type employee. He crys to the media when he cant settle a dispute privatly and has no problem airing his dirty laundry out there for the world to see and seems to have no regret about embarassing the organaztion that gave him a job.

Teams are very leary of bringing that kind of potentially volitile bad policity to their doporstep. So yeah now the amount of teams that might have intrest in his services dwindle more.

4. Ontop of everything I just mentioned he expects to be paid starter money when at this point in his career he is not worth it.

That transulates the few suitors willing to take a risk on him at a bargain price for a shot at a decent reward are also not intrested in him.

Which leaves him with 0 suitors.

Daunte is entitled to feel and value himself anyway he pleases to and you are free to agree with him, but the rest of the NFL is free to not to hire him. He is not entitled to a job and noone is obligated to employ him or pay him whatever salary he deems appropiate. He has had offers. He dosnt like them and turned them down, so be it. Now move on with your life. sadly he wont though, he will turn up on an interview on real sports or espn or some such place and cry to the public nationally about how he is being treated unfairly. There will be people like you too, who rally to his aide and chime in and regurgitate his talking points.

The Fact is noone wants him and noone should be forced to hire him.
