Pats fans should be ashamed of themselves

Last week while watching the colts pats game I was stunned to hear the crowd boo vinny when he came onto the field as a colt. How classless. They should of cheered him for how many big games they won off of his foot. If they feel that badly about losing him maybe they should boo thier owner, he let him go.

Yes he did give them a chance after receiving the Colts offer he called Bob Craft and Belichick to see if they wanted to match the offer and he didn't get a call back from them so signed on with them. After he signed he gave them a call telling them and saying how he appreciated letting him play there and to this day they still haven't called him back.
They did same thing to Johnny Damon I would have booed him and I would've probably booed Vinatieri too if I was a Pats fan.

that isn't the version the NFLfan posted, he had no effort on V's part for a match... that is the source of my argument, if it is untrue, I am left in the cold

the pats offered adam v a contract that would have made him the highest paid kicker in football .so much for chump change.

No Its true. Adam and the Pats negotiated for many many months at which time NE offered Vinatieri a contract that would have made him the highest paid kicker in the league and Vinatieri turned it down. Vinatieri then fired his long time agent and his new agent sold him to the colts. An article i read back when this happened said that the colts wanted an assurance from Vinatieri's agent that he was serious about coming to the colts and that they the colts wouldn't just be used as a bargining tool with the pats. They were adamant that if the offer they made Vinatieri was what he was looking for that he wouldn't leave indy without signing it and they wanted assurance on that. Adam visited the colts was offered a contract in line with what he wanted and it was signed then and there. There was no return to the pats for a counter offer and the article also had Vinatieri quotes where he stated he didn't allow the Pats to counter offer. The Pats found out he had signed with the colts thru the FA transactions wire not from either adam or his agent in person. Adams call to Kraft and Belichick was placed after the deal with indy was signed and final and it was to say good bye not to ask them to match the colts offer. I have read ridiculous accusations like this so many times it isn't funny. People write a thread topic with out a single clue of what really went down and don't even bother to take a few minutes to research anything they wrote to see if it has one onuce of truth to it.

Seems like enough of a reason for Pats fans to not be so warm to him.

Nothing to be ashamed of.
This is probably one of the guys continually posting how our fans should be ashamed of themselves for any reason under the sun.

First off this was the first time i heard how vinny left the pats and its put the fans reaction a lil more into perspective. I still think it showed very little class to boo him, but thats just how I am. Trek theres no reason for you try to take my comments and twist them into a personal attack on me, is there? honestly from what i just read sounds like the pats tried to low ball vinny and the colts snuck in and out manuvered the pats. vinny and the colts both got whjat they wanted and the pats got the short end of the stick. Thats buisness in todays NFL.

Low ball? Let me put this in perspective for you seeing your not able to do that on your own. The patriots offered Vinatieri a contract that would have made him the highest paid kicker in the league and you call that low balling now if the pats really wanted to low ball him they could have simply put the franchise tag on him and he would then have been paid the average of the top 5 kickers in the league and it would have essentially blocked his FA. Instead the Patriots made him a very good offer better than any kicker in the game and then even after he refused it they didn't franchise tag him which would have kept him bound to NE for less than their contract offer. What do you suppose Vinatieri chances would have been of getting another team to pony up a big contract and a first round draft pick for his services. Please don't try and insinuate that the Patriots didn't treat Vinatieri well because after all was said and done the pats treated him better than he treat them. Its well known that Vinatieri had made up his mind at the end of last season he wasn't coming back to NE and he himself stated it wasn't for economic reasons. Now if that still doesn't add up to you then ask yourself if money was the factor then why not look for a counter offer of even more than the colts offer? Adam wanted out and he wanted a long term garraunteed contract and he wanted to kick in a dome. He felt the dome would prolong his career another 3 or 4 years and seeing he had been having back problems for the last 3 or 4 yrs he sought the confines of the warm climate controlled dome.

Just for the record mr clutch hasn't been as clutch in the past few years as he had been in those first two SB. He's still one of the best in the game today but he's definately going down hill. This season with indy he's battled injuries for the first 4 or 5 games and last weekend he had the chance to ice the game vs the pats and he missed it which was the second one he missed in that game. To most pats fans Vinatieri is dead with the way he left our team and he is now playing for perhaps our most hated enemy so I don't understand why you feel like we were supposed to applaud him everytime he takes the field against us?

It's a stab in the back to go to a rival.

I would boo Dan Marino if he went to the Jets in a heart beat. It's a classless act to sell out your team for your rival.

That was not a personal attack.
A personal attack would have been calling you an idiot for your comment.
That I did not do.

I see a connection between the post you made about what you think is appropriate fan behavior and the similar stuff I see around here. I feel both are absurd and thought it very likely that you posted the same stuff in the usual Miami fan bash posts.
