Alan Robinson, of the Associated Press, reports Pittsburgh Steelers LB Joey Porter fired back at Seattle Seahawks TE Jerramy Stevens after Stevens made comments that Porter interpreted as Stevens guaranteeing a Seattle victory. Stevens was asked about Steelers RB Jerome Bettis' much-publicized return to his hometown of Detroit to try to win a Super Bowl in what likely is his final season. "It's a heartwarming story and all that, but it will be a sad day when he leaves without that trophy," said Stevens, who said later he wasn't guaranteeing a victory but was only saying what he felt. Stevens also said Porter will have a difficult time whenever he is matched up with Seahawks All-Pro OT Walter Jones. Porter said Stevens' remarks were all he needed to get him going for the Super Bowl. "I've been asleep all week but now I got woke up," Porter said Wednesday, Feb 1. "I've got my first taste of blood and now I'm thirsty for more. Until now, it was 'Watch what I say,' 'I can't say this,' 'I can't say that,' 'Don't do anything silly,' but I'm ready now."

Sadly the Bettis story is the headline this week. He gets a lot of credit for a guy that gained 368yds on 3.3ypc. Cmon, the guy weighs 280 now and the Steelers have been starting other guys over him for like 3 or 4 years now. He'd be lucky if he could manage a 30 yard run in the shape hes in.

Joey sounds plain dumb....he is the guy who got shot in the a$$ in Denver a few years ago. What do you expect from CSU football players.

Thank god for this. Now the Super Bowl has something to watch for this year other than the final two minutes. I want to see Porter whack that well educated full-sentence talking numbskull back into his seat on the bench in the HOLY NAME OF ILLITERATE BIG MOUTHED LINEBACKERS.
