Raiders expect Gannon to retireRaiders coach Norv Turner hinted Sunday that Rich Gannon's career is over in Oakland, raising doubt the quarterback will play again after a serious neck injury.
"Rich hasn't come out and publicly made any statements, but from a physical standpoint, it would be very difficult for him to play," Turner said. Turner said that Gannon, who turns 40 in December, will not attend the team's mandatory minicamp next weekend and will be the only player not to participate. Turner expects no announcement before June 1 because of salary cap constraints. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

Rich Gannon is one of those guys who went from an MVP to the bench real quick although I can't blame him for his decline. He peaked late in his career and at his age it would of been impossible for him to keep it up. Props to Gannon though, he perservered in this league and really salvaged a career that didn't look to promising early in his career!

I can see Gruden trying to pick him up for a backup job in Tampa.
