lol I was getting ready to come in here and slam this thread. I was ready to put up the 1 star lol. I agree though, Rivers looks better than Manning so far. I think Manning will be a good player though.

Who knows in the long run, but Manning has just as much offensive talent around him and he is not playing nearly as good as Rivers. Even though Manning does not have the best rb in the league in LT, he does have what I would say is the 2nd best back in the league and best NFC rb with Tiki Barber, plus a good rb with Brandon Jacobs, Plaxico Burress and Jeremy Shockey. But Eli still struggles, and after watching the game against the Bears it seems that he still hasn't taken his performance to the next level. Eli Manning is so streaky and inaccurate, wheras, as Rives is accurate or much more accurate than Eil Manning and seems much less streaky so far. Eli Manning has to throw much better. He has missed numerous WRs, in the game that were wide open and they were just ten yard passes, and he also had two awful passes that were way overthrown to wide open wrs that resulted in interceptions.

Take LT off the chargers and put him on the giants...then tell me.
Nothing against Tiki, but LT takes a lot of heat off the QB. Gates is a much better TE than shockey too. Right now, nobody could really say. But Rivers has a much better supporting cast right now. |

i agree that rivers will probably be better than manning, but both have shown signs of greatness.

It is definitely starting to look that way, as if the Giants made the wrong choice in that draft. But I have a feeling that we haven't seen the best of Eli Manning yet. Each time he has the ball on his hands, and he is standing on that pocket, I always feel as if he's going to do something great.
Problem Eli has to face that Philip Rivers does not is that he is surrounded by great talents on offense, but around 3 of them are selfish, loudmouth *******. Having Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress on the same offense is like having TWO "San Francisco 49ers version of Terrell Owens" in your offense (I mention that version, because I really think that Terrell Owens has definitely matured now). You just can't control those two, and if you get on their face, they will back down on your team and sit on the sidelines for the rest of the game to watch you suffer [ie: Seattle vs New York game; Plaxico didn't play the entire second half..]. |

The Giants got fleeced in that draftday trade, they could have had Ben or Rivers but instead traded up giving up 2 1st rd picks for Eli.

The gaints gave rivers and a draft pick which yeilded merriman. i know he is on suspension but you got to evaluate
rivers + merriman = eli ....for now looks like a bad deal.funny how last year archie manning wanted eli traded to the chargers back as they have a better team. |

I've been impressed with Rivers since watching him light up the field during his Senior Bowl. They kid is pure talent and will prove to be worth the money that SD paid him.
I just wish we could have gotten him ![]() |
