Schaub to Texanshttp://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10078226
Doubt this has any effect on us as Quinn probably wouldn't have slid to Texans anyhow. But just in case he does, they no longer would be looking at him. |

Wow! That surely will mess up the draft board a little. 2nd rounder. They've been trying to get a first for him for some time. Still, an early 2nd round pick for him is not too bad. Definately puts a huge amount of pressure on Vick to win now. No more fall-back for Atlanta. Not that they ever fell back to him when they had the chance. Wonder if there will be any more of these trades that will affect the 1st round draft board ?

The bad news? If the 2nd round pick Houston is sending Atlanta is this year's 2nd then the Falcons might be looking at Drew Stanton at 39 if Stanton is available. If Petrino doesn't have a back-up plan for Vick, he'll be out of a job a lot sooner than I expected. Maybe Carr is a part of the deal. Edit: IMO this confirms the rumors that Atlanta will be trying to make a move for Calvin Johnson. Why else would they suddenly lower their price tag for Schaub and up their faith in Michael Vick?

Did Matt Schaub Get Traded To The Texans?I seen at Kipers chat that Schaub was traded to the Texans.. I couldn't find it any where else. Is this trade true?
Jeff (California): So Matt Schaub just got traded to the Texans for a 2nd round pick, how does that change what the Texans do in the first round? Mel Kiper: (1:37 PM ET ) It doesn't effect the Texans, because they weren't going to be getting Quinn anyway. If you look at what they've done - added Ahman Green and other little pieces in free agency. Their most pressing need is CB or LT. They need a CB, Leon Hall would have to be in the mix. If you add Matt Schaub, you'd have to consider Levi Brown. That hasn't changed what they'll be doing. Mel Kiper: (1:38 PM ET ) This trade spotlights that they've given up on David Carr. The Carr era comes to an end. But they never gave him a chance. They never tried to really stress and place importance on putting talent around him. This is the end of the Carr era, but it wasn't really all his fault. The organization has to take some blame for that. Let's hope they help Matt Schaub out a lot more than they helped out Carr. Mel Kiper: (1:41 PM ET ) The irony is that Matt Schaub, how highly coveted he was, he wasn't that highly regarded coming out of Virginia. He was a third rounder in 2004. The 90th pick overall. That was the year that Eli Manning went No. 1. Four QBs went in the first round and the next one taken was Schaub.

Very interesting deal. I like it from both sides, though I am not as sold on Schaub as some. Seems like a lot of hype for a good QB, but one that has done very little of note. Still, Houston needed to upgrade at the position and they must feel they have. Too bad they have only one weapon on O in Andre Johnson, and the signing of Ahman Green was awful.
As for Atlanta, a high 2nd round pick is vbery nice value for a guy that they were not going to keep much longer. They could be in a position to trade up, but I think they are also going to be big competition in rounds 2 and 3 for those offensive linemen we will be targeting. Both teams look to rebuild the line through the draft, and with the zone blocking scheme gone, they will be looking to guys that fit what we also look for. Thats the disadvantage here. |

Interesting. You'd think that would be big news. I haven't seen anything about it.

A second rounder is pretty steep in my opinion. Schaub has some talent but I'm not convinced he will be anything special.
