Signing Brees...far from a lock.

-Odds and ends: Though they won't have the money to dedicate to it, the Tennessee Titans are still intent on looking for a No. 1 receiver. … The Baltimore Ravens are looking for a veteran quarterback – but not just some guy to back up Kyle Boller. Word around the combine is that Drew Brees is at the top of their list if the new CBA deal goes through. … Bowling Green's Omar Jacobs has been knocked for his throwing mechanics, but he impressed several onlookers Sunday. He's probably still in the middle rounds, but some think he's a worthy project. … Judging from the personnel buzz at the combine, it's starting to look like this year's big loss in free agency for the New England Patriots will be kicker Adam Vinatieri.

I was shocked that Baltimore had not been rumored to get into the Brees/Culpepper/McCown sweepstakes...

Vince Young or Drew Brees for QB is my hope... there is alot of interest in Brees as there should be, alot of teams need a QB and Brees is really good. no other QB in FA has his history

I don't think so, according to CK and Boomer he will fall to the mid first round and should still be on the clock when Miami picks

The 6 was a rumor 2 days ago and not confirmed, he scored a 16 the second time, which is higher than Dan Marino so that means nothing to me...

Someone screwed his test up.....

He had to re-take the test and scored a 16 (which still sucks for a QB)

Exactly...

Here is a snip from ESPN's Insider: By Todd McShay Scouts Inc.

Quote:
The biggest buzz coming out of Indianapolis the last few days is the rumor that Texas QB Vince Young bombed his Wonderlic test. Rumor had Young scoring a 6 on the test. While the results of his first test haven't been confirmed, John Clayton reported that Young scored a 16 on his second try (according to his agent) and he's expected to take it a third time. The results of that test will not be released to NFL teams until next week, so it remains completely speculation at this point.

Signing Brees was no slam dunk. 3 years ago Mark Brunell was a lock to sign with Miami until Washington of all teams gave him an enormous contract with Ramsey already under center at the time.

The way I see it, is Miami may well be the front runner, because of the weather/location, no state or local tax, and the front office/coaching is rapidly making a name for itself in NFL circles. Especially when you have articles springing up with GM's taping Saban's brain for advice about team philosophies and FA pro-bowl/non-pro-bowl players listing Miami on it's short list of destinations. It can't be considered lip service at this point, MIAMI is one of the in vogue places to be in the NFL.

With that said, Money talks.. you know the rest. The big question is whether Brees can prove he'll fully recover from his injury with minimal to no loss of his arm strength. And a darkhorse team jumps in and overpays for Brees.

he got a 16, the rumored 6 was false and if you remember Marino got a 13 so Young scored higher than Marino. all of you Young haters no longer have the wonderlic test to hold against him

First John Clayton, now Peter King today on the Dan Patrick show said in his opinion, that Brees will be in Miami next year. It's not a lock, but, I have a good feeling about this signing.
