SpeculationPackers | Former employee says a big name may join team
Tue, 26 Jun 2007 13:29:18 -0700 Tom Pelissero, of the Green Bay Press Gazette, reports former Green Bay Packers director of player development George Koonce said during a radio interview that the Packers may add a big name offensive player before training camp. "The offseason's not over with quite yet, so don't be surprised if ... a big name (comes) in before training camp," said Koonce, who left the team to become Marquette University's senior associate athletic director. Who else is out there thats a "big name?" I doubt its Tank Johnson. They wouldn't touch Randy Moss and he's never been to jail.

Yeah I'm thinking Corey Dillon but he could be referring to both as sort of an either/or thing.

Having Aaron Rodgers is by no mean an indication that you wont not pursue other options as qb's

yea if i was favre i would already be pissed about the whole moss situation. i think it will be dillon as well, though. the reason being is that it doesnt really make sense letting ahman green go but getting an old dillon to run behind their work-in-progress line, and since the packers don't do things that make sense (trade for moss), they will probably do this too.

If I was Rodgers, I'd demand a trade.

They have the type of offense that caters to what Daunte was once able to do in the NFL...
If he wasn't his own agent, I'd say this was a rumor spread by an agent. Dillon played crappy last year. It looked like he was avoiding contact sometimes, he used to just bull over people without regard for his body. I think those days are gone... |

green bay may be the best spot for daunte to go, from his vantage point. obviously, they have invested a first round choice in aaron rodgers, but i'm sure with daunte on board they wouldn't just hand over the job to rodgers.
daunte could very well beat out rodgers in a camp dual next year. it certainly seems to me to be a better scenario that some of the other talked about teams. also, say what you will about daunte, but he is a fiery competitor and i would like to see him out of the afc if, indeed, he ever returns to form.
