True, but unfortunatley thats not how employers see it.. Employers view their emplyees as representatives of their business. If an employee tarnishes that business name, they are a goner, regardless of whether it was while they were at work, or in thier spare time... People get fired all the time for having their names in a police blotter. I know someone who was fired for drunk driving because their name was in the paper. Its unfortunate, but hey, shouldnt have gotten arrested in the first place

Sorry, but I have to let the BS flag fly. Show me a link stating this...I dont believe that for one second.

I know for a fact I would absolutely lose my job for being arrested.

I don't know what world you live in, but in most states and most jobs, you are an "at will" employee. Your boss could fire you for looking at him the wrong way.

Look at it this way. An employee wants you to follow rules, you get arrested because you don't follow rules. If your not going to follow the highest set of rules in the country, it doesn't set well for your image on the job site. But regardless of whether we agree with this or not, the Steelers have every right to fire anyone, at anytime they feel like. The NFL has had alot of blows lately and eventually someone has to be made an example of.

That is a good point, but moreso that an employer needs clients and customers to do business, if an employee ruins the integrity of that it could put the business at risk and an employer will fire an employee and not even think twice about it, and not even look back if the employee ruins that intgrity and its the employers lawful right to do so. (Aside from discrimination)

There are plenty of people in the US that wont do business if they think the company is run by a bunch of hoodlums...

Look at Walmart for example, they arent ran by hoods, but they are anti union, and I know alot of union workers that wont even step foot in a walmart solely because of that fact.

It all comes down to public perception which will always make or break a company and in that sense Pittsburgh had every right in the world to fire Wilson
