Steve Smith fights against Teammate

Smith was escorted from the practice field by General Manager Marty Hurney.

The two men were on the sidelines while other members of the team were working through special teams drills when the fight broke out. They exchanged several punches before teammates and Coach John Fox charged in to break up the fight. Linebacker Jon Beason had to pull Smith away from Lucas. It took several people to restrain the men and restore order.

Neither player was wearing a helmet at the time of the fight.

Steve Smith needs a hug. The guy is always so angry. I heard he absolutely destroyed Lucas which is pretty impressive considering Lucas has about 4 inches and 20lbs on him.
I wonder how the league will handle this. Any chance somebody will get suspended?

Steve Smith might get punished for this.

Just checked out the Panthers' board, and a lot of fans there are not siding with him on this one.

It's being described by fans' and their sources that the defense is getting really upset these days at Panthers' camp. That it is looking like "two teams out there instead of one".

According to a local radio around there, Smith and Lucas have been pretty physical all camp. Today, Smith kept accusing Lucas of holding, then Smith clubbed Lucas on the back of the head. Lucas and Smith begin to jaw each other on the sideline. Then after everything seemed to be cooling off between the two, Lucas gets on one knee and Smith takes a cheap shot at him on the face.

Smith understands and knows he made a "big mistake" and knows there will be punishment to be served.

Good. That's the type of punishment he deserves. I'm glad the Panthers' organization will take a stand like this, even if it's risking productivity, you got to be professional. No man is bigger than the other.

Steve Smith is a coward, plain and simple. I'll bet Lucas would love to kick his ***. I'm glad there team is rallying behind him instead of Smith. What a LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have suspended him for one game, 2 is a little harsh. It's training camp, it's hot outside, both sides are going to get a little testy. These things happen.
