No, you're right...Iraq wasn't part of 9/11...and as it has turned out, emminent WMD's weren't prevelent so what we thought we knew wasn't the case indeed...but then again, if our intelligence agencies were so competent, I guess we would have seen 9/11 coming to begin with, huh? Yes there were intelligence blunders. Yes we as a nation were in a bit of a panic mode...paranoid and yet justifiably so. 3000 Americans were senselessly murdered on a beautiful Tuesday morning and we were going to get those responsible and those who were aiding them. But as I said, with the awesome competence of our intelliegence agencies (sarcastically said), we knew where they were and who was helping them and by God we were going to get them. Now, I know there are partisans that will aver that the current adminstration lied to the American people. I can see their point but to me, the more logical and explaination that makes more common sense to me is that if our intelligence agencies couldn't foresee the terrorist attacks we endured during the 90's and 9/11, then how could these blundering agencies come up with who did what, when and who was involved? The one thing that solidified our beliefs though was the cooberation of the British, French and Russian intelligence agenices...FINALLY we had something right...right? The one thing I've learned about intelligence work is that it's pure guessing and speculating...and Saddam didn't help matters much himself with his defiance to UN weapons inspectors. But all of this is moot. We are where we are. To fix a situation, you can't sit back and point fingers trying to assign blame. That doesn't fix the problem, it just stirs anger and emotion and NOTHING gets done.

We invaded a country with plenty of justification.

UN Resolution 1441 authorizing force if not obeyed.

Saddam Shooting at our planes in the no fly zone. That is an Act of War.

Threats of WMD production and history of desire and attempts to produce WMD's, plus the history of using such weapons.
