And who was the source? A hoaxer who goes by the name of Martin Eisenstadt, supposedly employed by the "Warren G. Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy" who bragged on his website that he "leaked" the damaging info about Palin.

I'm seriously not up to date on this whole Africa thing. So she was never quoted as saying that by anyone? Sounds kinda ridiculous. I didn't love her as the VP pick but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt here. She must know that Africa is a continent. This kind of stuff is ridiculous and somebody needs to find better ways to amuse themselves.

It is really poor oversight on the part of FOX. With the campaign going on for 2 years and being covered 24 hours a day, there is no excuse for publishing this without verifying the source.

MSNBC reported based on what FOX reported. They are not the problem. Is a Democratic-leaning news network not going to report on a breaking story that attacks the opposition?

By now you’ve all heard the Fox News report last week that “unnamed” former McCain advisers leaked that Sarah Palin was confused about whether Africa was a continent, and which countries were in NAFTA. I was perfectly happy staying under the radar as an anonymous source for Fox News‘ Carl Cameron, but now that Palin has accusedaccusers of being “unprofessional…jerks…cowards… taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news” and begun to cast doubt on the Fox News report, maybe she’s right to a certain extent

At this point, it is unclear whether he truly was a source for Cameron who broke the original story.

Until Fox reveals there un-named source the only ones who got punked and ran the hoax of someone claiming to be the source is MSNBC according to the article.

Purely conjecture, but IMO think Fox had the same suspect source but felt had to break the story before other networks before the "Deep Throat" could be verified.

FOX screwed up. MSNBC is a liberal news network, and bit on it as we should all expect them to. End of story, really.
