What's your point?

Obama can't hand out windfall profit taxes if there is no windfall profit or windfall gain.

That doesn't mean he won't revisit the issue when there are windfall profits or windfall gains.

You people really grab for straws. My goodness.

excuse you, how is it grabbing for straws if it was only a month ago that this was one of his main platforms. just like he said he wants to involve d.c. outsiders in his staff. he hasnt even got into office yet and he is already lying to the public about his choices. its not my fault you guys were fooled into voting for him

I wasn't fooled into voting for him. What do you consider Washington outsiders? Political rookies? That is like political harakiri hiring brand new politicians.

So far I think he has a pretty good mix of people. Lots of different characters, some more loyal than others, some more Washington than others, a lot of experience and different opinions to draw from. These appointments in itself are already change.

The only ones who complain are the die hard righties but that was expected.

Back to the topic though (I know deflection is very much liked on this board):

Of course windfall profit tax was on his agenda about a month ago. Oil companies posted still record profits in October for the 3rd quarter. But since the gas prices plummeted their won't be windfall profits to be taxed at this point.

Just because it is off his website doesn't mean that this won't be resurrected if it becomes an issue again.

I think people misinterpret windfall profit tax with corporate tax.

It was never going to be doable. It was a stupid idea and I am glad he ditched it.

If you were stupid enough to believe it then I guess you have a right to feel cheated in some way. But I think most people with a modicum of sense realized most of this nonsense was nothing more than populist pandering. You say a lot of stupid **** to get elected......that's what happens when you run for office in a democracy where half the electorate is barely literate.

I hope he breaks most of his promises. If he does I just may vote for him in 2012.

Well, I guess maybe i'm a little more intelligent than I thought. I have not believed most of what he has said, but whenever I or another poster brings up his problems with, oh, both the first, and second amendment, we are chastised by one of his "followers".

Now that you cleared that up I feel much better.

Basically you wanted to keep running the country the way it's been ran the last 8 years....if he does that, then I won't vote for him in 2012...that's crazy as we see how the last 8 years turned out..

Can't someone not like Obama's policies and also not like how our country was ran for the past 8 years?

You are right, because the Republican party is the Hero of these two amendments. Give me a freaken break, both these parties violate the constitution like crazy. In fact even some of our greatest presidents went against the constitution quite a few times.

Thanks but no need to put words in my mouth.

Obama promised higher taxes for the wealthy and corporations. I hope he nixes that promise.

Obama's plans for our country include massive spending increases. I hope he nixes those as well.

Obama plans to erase all the abortion limits we have fought for over the last 30 plus years. I hope he nixes that idea.

Just to name a few.

Oh don't worry. The protestants will find plenty of reasons to hate the man and you'll all be riled up and ready to vote for the next born again mental patient in four years.

Yes of course. Debate is highly encouraged in here. It requires well thought out responses to valid issues, while maintaining focus on the subject and considerate of all parties involved. I find those to be most edifying and worthy.
