Obama Fomenting A Constitutional Crisis: Constitutional Lawyer Discusses Ramification

Controversy continues to surround President-elect Barack Obama's eligibility to serve as president, and a case involving his birth certificate waits for its day before the U.S. Supreme Court. A constitutional lawyer said were it to be discovered that Mr. Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen, it would have grave consequences for the nation.

A gathering of judges will meet on Dec. 5 to decide whether or not to hear a case from New Jersey, and a decision is still pending on a case from a lawyer in Pennsylvania. Should four of the judges vote to hear the case in the Dec. 5 meeting, then it will be scheduled for hearings. Court cases from Connecticut and New York have also applied for hearings at the U.S. Supreme Court.

So? U.S. citizens are stupid. There are some who think we never landed on the moon and that the government blew up the World Trade Center buildings.

Now there are bigots out there trying to create problems, but that has nothing to do with Obama.

Ask yourselves this: if White John McCain had been elected - born in Panama, not on US soil so thus according to the constitution barred from serving as president - would these same people be filing these legal actions? No they would not. Their issue is race, nothing else.

There are a lot of things that may not be racism, but this is, and the thread title just continues that by stating something that is not supported by what is posted or what he says in later posts in this thread.

Racism, that is good. ONE, and I repeat ONE of the many lawsuits, or at least one I should say, as I am not up on all of them, was filed by Alan Keyes. Last I checked, he was ALSO black. I have known about the lawsuits, and how some are with the Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas, I believe.

I would not list them here, because I knew I would be called a racist, every once in a while I am correct.

Oh, and for the record, I have no idea what Justice Thomas will find, but I think it would probably be a disaster if he is found constitutionaly inelliglible at this point.

He isn't going to find anything. There is an extremely thorough screening process before someone can even announce their candidacy for president. How has this escaped everyone's logic? If he wasn't eligible to run for president, he would NEVER have gotten to this point. This is nothing but sour grapes by the right wing. Its done. Live with it. Obama is our next president...

The assumption is that the vetting would have found something, somewhere in the process. That has been my assumption, so until something else comes along to change that, this really isn't an issue.

But....just for fun and debate, what would happen if a POTUS elect becomes ineligible? Do we have another election? Do we put the second place guy in office? What?

I would assume that Joe Biden would take over as president. That seems the logical thing to do..

Not so sure of that. The McCain voters would be screaming at the top of their lungs that an ineligible person robbed their candidate of a victory in the first place. It would be the equivalent of "it should have never happened".

I say it goes back to the voters.
