Rove: We Wouldn't Have Invaded Iraq If We Knew The Truth About WMDsn what was a remarkable admission that contradicted - to a large extent - the past statements from his onetime boss, former Bush strategist Karl Rove said on Tuesday evening that had the President known Iraq did not possess weapons of mass destruction, the United States would not have gone to war.
"In the aftermath of 9/11 the concern was about a tyrant accused of enormous human rights abuses," but who also possessed weapons of mass destruction, said Rove. "Absent that, I suspect that the administration's course of action would have been to work to find more creative ways to constrain him like in the 90s." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/1..._n_147923.html Now Rove also goes on it say that the war may have been necessary for other reasons, but I just thought this was interesting. Its funny, because I actually never really hated Rove like some others . I also thought that he was a genious campaigner manager and strategist. They demonized this guy way too much in my opinion.

I didn't read the article but your post goes in-line with the interview Bush gave to CG just a few days ago. Bush wasn't as clear as Rove but he too did not give a thumbs up about an invasion in Iraq if the Intel would have been different. Whatever happened to "the world is a much safer place now" for justifying the invasion in Iraq in the absence of WMDs? I think they are now doing 'history revision'. What the killer is though, for the past years the supporters of this administration bought into every reason they gave: from mushroom clouds to WMDs and when none of that proved to be true they switched to 'Hussein = bad man' and 'world is now a safer place'. Just leave those who believed you cold and dry. How must that feel for someone who took every word for granted and marched in line with the WH policies? ![]() |
