Why all the hate? A balanced interview about radical Islam hate.

Once again, I don't care what the source is guys, this is a great read, and pretty much mirrors the Liberal/Conservative views held around here.

The worst thing we can do — and we saw this in 1983 in Beirut and 1993 in Mogadishu — is to withdraw just because someone feels that they don’t like our policies. That’s not — policy debates and politics are how to resolve this. We should never believe that terrorism is legitimate.

.....to say that they just hate freedom I just think is a little bit oversimplistic. It’s a broad range of things, but one of the aspects has to be how we’re perceived around the world, how we’re perceived particularly in the Middle East.

Good read. But missing in the perspectives represented was any mention of the religious teachings that incite such action. IMO

agreed, i have no problem with the religion, my problem is with the members of that religion that turn a blind eye to what their own people do.

It's like Catholicism and the sexual abuse scandals.....are catholics bad? no. But I feel it is EVERY catholics duty to confront the sexual abuse allegations and point out those in the church who commit such acts.

Why don't practicing members of Islam point out the radicals preaching hate? They have to take responsiblity for what members of their religion are doing, rather than turning a blind eye. It's everyones duty.

Well stated. To answer your question, I believe most of the defense of the actions of the Islamic radicals comes from Islamic states. Because of the theocracy that holds these people down, those who would speak up are otherwise silenced due to fear of repercutions. Muslims here in the states tend to agree with our position and speak out against the viloence, unfortunately it has no baring on those in the mid-east. IMO
