Good for Kiffin. I actually consider this a promotion for him going from the Raiders to the Volunteers. Now he can coach with a team that will have some stability and people above him that will support him and let him do his job.

Good for him.
He didn't deserve half the garbage Old Man River gave him. Hope he succeeds and brings Rocky Top back to respectability in the SEC. |

sounds like he's gonna have a very good staff as well. Rumors are that his dad Monte will leave Tampa Bay to be Associate HC with his son, and that he'll hire Glenn Steele (Bama DC, former Baylor HC) and Ed Ogeron (former Ole MIss HC and USC DC) as part of his staff.
Coach O and Steele weren't much as HCs but they can recruit with the best if them as can Kiffen. I think Kiffen would have been a better fit in Washington since the West Coast was Kiffen's area of expertise for recruiting when he was at USC, but he'll be looking to put together a top notch staff.

I like Kiffin, i think he's going to do well at UT. Wont have to worry about a senile old man with no idea how to run a franchise breathing down his neck.

Supposedly he's thinking about it.
He's got a good thing going in Tampa though.

Although that defense is always aging. Even though they seem to replenish the talent within it every season, maybe he should get out now before they implode. Monte himself is pretty old too, i think it would make sense for him to out right retire than take on a new challenge at UT.

He's been away from college since like 1982 I think.

he wanted to go to Oakland and coach with Lane, but Al Davis wouldn't let Lane fire Ryan.
Tampa already has Kiffen's replacement in place in their DB coach (I think his name is Raheem Mathis) and Monte is getting older. Couldn't ask for a better teacher for a defense.
