University presidents have signed on for a deal with ESPN that includes exclusive television, radio, digital, international and marketing rights for the Fiesta, Orange and Sugar Bowls from 2011-2014 and the Bowl Championship Series title game from 2011-2013. The $125 million a year payout is about 40 percent more than the current contract with Fox. This is likely the end of "free" BCS Championship TV as we know it.

And, as always, the cost will likely be passed on to the consumer.

This is why.

Actually ESPN is great for College Football. It's the fan it's bad for.

I'm actually a bit hopefull for the playoffs.

ESPN analyst have been asking for one more than anyone else. Once this contract starts, as it gets closer to the end, I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN's input into that a playoff could actually make more money will fall on deaf ears.
